Whose run in GS is the most inspirational?

who has the most inspirational run in GS in your opinion?
I would go to Serena's run in 2007

In addition to the poll, I would like to add Dokic's run at AO 2009 to my favourite fairy tale as well ( how did i forget her in the first place )

I'd say Venus in 2005 when everyone discounted her and she had to defeat Sharapova and Davenport. I think the message was...I'm still here.

Probably Seles @ USO 95 and RG 98.

Re: Whose run in GS is the most inspirational?

Monica's comeback in 1995, after 2.5 years away from the game, was the most inspirational for me. Too bad she was robbed of the first set in the final against Graf.

Re: Whose run in GS is the most inspirational?

Oh yeah Seles's life is quiet sad i wish she could accomplish more but in many ways her career has inspired many more young players to be great and try the best they can...she's one of the kind

P.S. I kinda made silly choice in the last two options just for fun and also put Lena's gold medal cause i think it's worth mentioning IMO

Of those choices, Capriati 01 for sure.

*Stephens*Hampton*Riske*Dulgheru*

*Anyone playing Wickmayer*

Re: Whose run in GS is the most inspirational?

Monica US Open 1995, Roland Garros 1998.
Jennifer Australian Open 2001, Roland Garros 2001 (finally winning the slams the always was capable of winning)
Serena Australian Open 2007. Never, ever count her out.

I will give a brownie points to Venus' 2005 Wimbledon run. Looking back especially, it really gave her an extra bolt of life for the slams especially at Wimbledon. That final still depresses me though.

Re: Whose run in GS is the most inspirational?

Capriati's.

This was a player who was absent from the game for years, and then reaches the summit of her profession again. That's REAL inspiration.

Serena's run in '07 was the biggest act of defiance and subsequently triumph against all those who had ridiculed and written her off in the press.
