She'll probably not provoke the long drawn out boring responses from Martina critics who underneath hate her guts yet think they are tennis pundits who expect everyone to take their words as gospel like I am sure is going to happen in this thread.....

Martina has said she's taking some time off from tennis, but doesn't know for how long.

How do we get from that to her retiring? There's no reason to think that with time, and proper care, she won't finally recover from her injury. There's no word that she's getting married. She's still young. She's always been very competitive.

I assume that financially she can retire. But, indeed, what would she do if she retires?

at least she doesn't have to worry how to pay her bills!

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night

I don't think she'll retire. She has too much pride too continue this way though. She knows she has to work on her game. If she leaves now, I think she will ruin her name. I think she will work very hard to get better. Maybe even try a new coach, or a co-coach.

i think if she made an academy it would be very popular especially with the non-power players and those with small body frames

with her earnings, she can afford to retire but not just yet.

"When I was four years old, we moved from England to USA, when my mother found out that I won't be KING!" -- Bob Hope--

Madame Oracene Williams could certainly teach the French & Belgian crowds on how to upgrade their respective primitive behaviours during a tennis match.
