Williams-Sister rule the tour?

It's long ago that Serena and Venus were both at the top of the rankings. In fact they both really had a slump because of long injury-breaks. Now Serena is # 1 for more than a year and Venus is # 2 and leader of the Champions-Race. They are # 1 in the doubles rankings as well as in the doubles race.

But are they really that dominant? As dominant as 8 years ago?
What do you think?

They are still the players to beat. The other girls guage their games based on how the compete against the sisters.

Re: Williams-Sister rule the tour?

Obviously they are clearly not as strong and dominant as they were 8 years ago.

Re: Williams-Sister rule the tour?

They don't "rule" the tour. JJ beat both of them consecutively in Rome.

But they're definitely at the pinnacle of women's tennis. This year alone, Serena has on the Australian Open, and Venus has won Acapulco .

They're the ones to beat.

Doubles Specialist Јеlena Jankovic
Crowd Favourite Victoria Azarenka
Former Tennis Player Petra Kvitová

Re: Williams-Sister rule the tour?

I would say they don't play enough to rule the entire tour. Additionally they are not quite strong enough on clay to rule that part of the season. But outside of clay they are the favourites to take all the other really big titles. So while I wouldn't quite say they rule the entire tour they are proportioned a very big and important section of that tour with which they reign supreme.
