Can we now confirm that the season is too long?

I mean come on, barring Lindsay and MArtina who had a long injury break so I will be fair and not count them.

Many players are injured.

Monica foot is bothering her again (a thing which we know is coming given her packed early season)

Serena and Venus is suffering from fatigue (as they have played a lot more this season, even Serena who sit out the first three months have played so much since then)

Kim is not injured but she did play relatively few tournaments early this season because of injury

Jelena is in a massive slump (overplaying?)

Justine is not playing well since Wimbledon (someone argue is the surface, but I bet to differ, players in her calibre can pull off in any surface, she may not win them, but at least get some wins)

Who else have we got left, oh Jen and Amelie, they are not injured coz they play a smart schedule, they both take extensive break after each Grand Slam

Even on the men side, Hewitt is injured.

What did the tennis governing body do? Nothing, coz big bucks is at stake

you have the answer inside

.......they are not injured coz they play a smart schedule

each player can decide how mayn tournametns they want to play
and if they play to much it is her own fault.
noone has to play more tournaments as he want

Something was bound to go right sometime today, All these broken pieces fit together to make a perfect picture of us
It got cold and then dark so suddenly and rained, It rained so hard the two of us were the only thing
That we could see for miles and miles
And in the middle of the flood I felt my worth, When you held onto me like I was your little life raft
Please know that you were mine as well
Drops of water hit the ground like God's own tears
And spread out into shapes like Salad bowls and basins and buckets for bailing out the flood

The tour is not forcing them to play at gunpoint. It's up to the players. They choose to play.

Like I said before. They play because:

1. They like it OR
2. They need the money or ranking points

Nothing's going to change, you just have to take care of your body better.

i agree. the players get to chose when they want to play. the tour provides tournaments to play in throughout the whole year so that the players can play when the conditions are good for them and so that plays are able to take time off.

let's put it this way, would you rather play straight for 3/4 of a year or play the same amount as 3/4 of a only not straight but broken up iin which you get to decide when to play.

the tour makes the season long for this reason rather than what your thinking of. you think the players are having to play all the time but they aren't. they only play when they want to.

Go the aussies! stosur!!!
and good luck russians: dementieva, safina, kirilenko, sharapova, kuznetsova, bovina, zvonareva, dushevina.

also good luck to: azarenka, lucic, sprem, vakulenko, vaidisova, safarova, ivanovic, groenefeld, mirza, krajicek, kvitkova, larcher de brito, lisicki.

Do you really think the player has a choice sometimes?

I beg to differ, players especally top players are pay big bucks for their sponsorship, and their sponsor together with Sanex WTA continue to ask them to play a no, of events to fulfil their commitments. Players in the lower spectrum are forced to play so many tournament to make a living because low tier events have not got enough money.

And Jen, who has a month off after Aus Open, Wimbledon and US Open.

Loads of men pulled out of the US Open, a record I think...

so yes, we can agree now

- if you make the season shorter, less tournaments, less money, that's going to drive many young girls back to school or other careers.

Players especally top players are pay big bucks for their sponsorship, and their sponsor together with Sanex WTA continue to ask them to play a no, of events to fulfil their commitments.

- I'm not too sure about this, but V&S seem to be able to get away with this a lot. I think popularity and star power of the player matters more, imo. Quite frankly many big name players don't care Sampras didn't have a clothing sponsor for awhile.

My logic is that if we have fewer tournaments, bigger draw, then players in the lower spectrum can get to share some of thos elarge pools of money exist in tier ones and twos

Venus and Serena didn't get away with it, Serena got away with it becuase she was injred the first three months, and look at how much she played since. Venus didn't get away with it, she withdraw tournaments but she still pay a price for it, a possible penalty
