's-Hertogenbosch: 1r Magdalena Rybarikova def. (2) Dinara Safina 6:7(4), 6:4, 6:4

Magda :worship:
Closed it out on 6th MP!!!

Quite struggled cause she lead 3-1 with multiple chances to go up 4-1 and then wasted 2MP on Safina's serve at 5-3

It's soo hard to watch Safina right now... She really should get a new serve motion  When Wimbly and Cincinnati points will come off, she'll be nowhere where she could be, but yeah then it's kind of a new start for her.

So happy! Princess Magda played so well the last 2 sets and didn't choke for once! It only took 6 MPs :rolls: but she held her nerve and got in 2 first serves at the end when it counted most!!

Good fight from Dinara but just not enough.

At least after Wimbledon her ranking will be where it should be.
Dinara is far away from good tennis.
At least her back allows her to play

I'm very pleased with that. Magda wasn't really at her best, and obviously neither was Safina and the 1st set was pretty gruesome from both. But it did improve. By the the last set Magda was actually playing pretty well and Safina, too, after a slow start in the 3rd set put up some tough resistence in the end. Magda had to be strong serving out for it or this could easily have got away from her but the fact that she held firm will definately give her a good boost of confidence. And of course with each additional match Magda gets this week she can build on her form.

Chance for a great week here, keep it going Magda :rocker:

She just has no confidence in any of her shots anymore. It's so, so hard to watch, especially in comparison to the fantastic tennis she was playing about a year ago. Don't want to take anything away from Rybarikova, because she was mostly solid and definitely held her nerve, but Dinara looks so hopeless these days.
