What active WTA player would you note for displaying exemplary character?

This is biased against younger players. Tennis players are sheltered, and it's had to demonstrate character above and beyond when you're a teenager anyway.

Venus Williams speech after winning Dubai in 2009 is an example of good character.

Or when Svetlana Kuznetsova was accused of using PEDs, Alicia Molik bought out all the copies of the newspaper she saw the article in, and ripped them to shreds.

Poor character? Coaching from the stands, wiping away ball marks on clay, repeated delaying tactics, etc etc etc ....

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Venus Williams. Saying that she would not play or defend her title in Dubai if Shahar Peer could not play was just awesome. Her fight & victory for equal prize money for all players on the WTA. Showing to everyone who watches that you can do what you love and still get an education was also awesome. Seeing her in her cap and gown was great not only for fans of all ages who look up to her or admire her, it was also great for players on the tour who may have got caught up in just tennis while letting their education slip by the wayside. Venus has the midus touch when it comes to making an impact. Her victories are not just on the tennis court. No one stands out like Venus in this way, though there are a lot of decent players on the tour.

Venus is just far above most players in my mind. Kim Clijsters comes close but still, it's Venus. Didn't Kim donate her prize money from the Brisbane tournament to some area struck by disaster? If I remember correctly.

TT Singles Current Ranking: #3 (CH Ranking: #1)
Titles(10): Singapore YEC 2015 Eastbourne 2015, Dubai 2015, Linz 2014, Cincinnati 2014, Wimbledon 2014, Marrakech 2014, Quebec City 2012, Cincinnati 2011
TT Doubles Current Ranking: #30 (CH Ranking: #8)
Titles(8): Zhuhai 2015, Stuttgart 2015, Sofia TOC 2014, Cincinnati 2014, Bucharest 2014, Tokyo 2012 (w/New_balls_please), Stanford 2012, Carlsbad 2011, Osaka 2011 (w/rvugt)

Exemplary from what? attitude on court or off court?

One's personality might look different on and off court. One can be a total bitch on court but be completely humble off court.

Safina's attitude is horrible on court, but she's quite gracious in defeat. Smiling and giving credits to her opponent during trophy presentation although she's very sad/disappointed at the same time. Often, these small things went unnoticed by many and nobody took example from it.

So far, I think Kim and Venus are the most exemplary players in terms of personality. I doubt about Kim's though, as being nice = few achievements lol.

You must be a BITCH and be hated to be very successful.
