Now that Schiavone has won a major when will Safina, Jankovic and Dementieva?

Safina, Jankovic and Dementieva are generally considered to be the best players never to have won a major (both based on how well they play and how well they've consistently done at majors).

Do you think all three still have a credible chance at finally winning a major and if so where will it most likely happen?

I don't think Dementieva will ever win one and Safina has to rediscover the form that she had in the first half of 2009 so she can seriously challenge for the Australian and French Open titles (I don't think Safina will ever win Wimbledon or the US Open based on her style of play).

If Jankovic can maintain her best form (like she displayed in Indian Wells and Rome) then she will continue to have credible chances to win any of the majors except for Wimbledon (where players who hit the ball harder and flatter can wipe her off the court).

So considering Dementieva's age and Safina's injuries/lack of form I think the most likely of the three to win a major any time soon will be Jankovic.

Now that Schiavone won a major I don´t consider winning a major the big shit as before

As for the question , maybe never , I don´t really care since today

Isn't this the same as

Now that Schiavone has a grandslam championship, who else?

Re: Now that Schiavone has won a major when will Safina, Jankovic and Dementieva?

The more chances missed, the harder it's going to get for all of them. Dementieva had 2 chances and the last was nearly 6 years now. Safina has already had 3. Jankovic might be in the category of say a Mauresmo who only had 1 previous final before she ended up winning on her second try.

I would say that the "now that Schiavone has won a Major" really has nothing to do with the second part of the question.

When they aren't injured when a dream draw comes along.

All three are good enough to make the semis on a consistent basis, throw in Wozniacki while you are at it and one of them will actually a slam! It is realistic to expect a JJ vs Safina semi and an Elenad vs Caro -even they are incapable of screwing that up.

Rena- a tennis great! 22 at striking distance.

lol but i'm sure they would try their hardest. All of them fall down the stairs will skipping at glee one of them will no longer be slamless and break their legs at the sametime.

I think Fran winning should actually be an inspiration for all them. Fran at 29 took her opportunity. Hopefully all of them will win a slam a some point (well actually don't really mind if Caro doesn't win one but she certainly has time on her side.

Re: Now that Schiavone has won a major when will Safina, Jankovic and Dementieva?

Fun thing to see would be something like GS SF Jankovic - Wozniacki and Safina - Dementieva.

First one would last for like 5 hours with both players making 5 winners

Second one would last for like 5 hours with both players having set points in both of first two sets, and then match points in third.

Guess then, one from these three would get a GS!

Re: Now that Schiavone has won a major when will Safina, Jankovic and Dementieva?

If Dinara recovers from her back injury, she just turned 24, she still has plenty of years.
And she is a former #1 who went to 3 slam finals. I still think a healthy Dinara will be a force at the FO in her mid to late 20's.

Dementieva and Jankovic can see Fran winning at almost 30, so they know its possible, if things break right
All 3 need some luck.

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!
