Myth dispelled: Groth denies move to switch allegiances (TF made news!)

Australian tennis player Jarmila Groth has dismissed rumours that she and her husband Sam are considering switching allegiances to Turkey.

The Groths have made their base at a tennis academy in Istanbul this year after taking up an offer to work with controversial coach Gavin Hopper.

A tennis internet chat forum has been buzzing this week regarding reports out of Turkey that world No.107 Jarmila and world No.393 Sam were going to change citizenship.

Former Slovakian Jarmila Groth only became a fully-fledged Australian late last year following years of wrangling with immigration officials because she spends so much time out of the country each year on tour.

"That is the only truth to it, that we train there," she said after progressing to the third round of the French Open in Paris.

Wow there must be news hunters hanging around TF!

So long...

Poor Turkey... the one nation to have worse tennis players than NZ

Thank you for everything Mercedes, now please be nice to Socrates for me, perhaps fetch him a bird or two. We love you, always.

Yeah. No way was this going to be true.
Sort of a shame she doesn't get help from Tennis Australia anymore but she's talented enough to make it on her own. Good luck today Jarka

It makes me so uncomfortable that professional sports journalists read our site.

Congrats tennisforum, for making the news and creating a question for journalists (you should put the fact we made the news in the title)

Good news anyway Jarmila is a great girl and its good to have her representing Australia.
