Carson 50K R1: 15 year old Krista Hardebeck d. (1) Sacha Jones 6-4 4-6 6-0

Hardebeck is our top-ranked junior in the US She still needs to fill out physically a little bit more in order to become stronger, but I liked what I saw.

She looks like a younger Jessica Kirkland. Hopefully she will turn out better than her.

And accidentally continue taking something that is not a PED because WADA couldn't bother to inform their athletes in a proper fashion simply does not warrant a harsher punishment.

Krista! Great win! Her shots are pretty unorthodox but she was hitting some wicked angles! This win should be great for her confidence! She plays another American junior, Nicole Gibbs, in the second round.

To add to the original poster, she is our top ranked junior according to USTA rankings, but not based on ITF rankings.

Hardebeck won't go anywhere with those strokes.

You never know. There have been quite a few successful players with unorthodox strokes. I'm not saying she'll go far, but her results are promising for as young as she is.

Good for her, but her strokes are awful to watch.

This was Sacha's first match back from recovering from a broken rib, I dont think we should read too much into this result. Congrats to young Krista anyway

That girl is so unlucky. Injury at the end of last year just as she was playing well and now a broken rib? I hope she starts playing well again.

She's kinda like Kimiko, except American and her strokes are nowhere near as nice.

I don't know if I can see that game standing up to the real pros (sorry, Sacha ).

Wow, she uses so much elbow in her shots. I guess there's still time to fix them, her strokes certainly aren't anywhere near as bad as the current world number three.
