Caroline Wozniacki's Father...

I know Caro gets a lot of stick from certain members on here, but I couldn't help but feel sorry for her when I saw her 'on-court coaching' changeover with her dad. It was just 2 mins of pure rant and shouting at her. Sure, maybe his coaching techniques have helped her get to #2 in the world, but I still felt really uncomfortable watching him talk to her. What does everyone else think?

Re: Caroline Wozniacki's Father...

I thought the same thing when I saw it. I just can't understand how players have their parents as their coaches. I love mine but I know I wouldn't have them as coaches.

I don't think a father-coach relationship would be good, I think the only one that works is the Williams with her mother becuase she doesn't get into their matches, she's just there watching.

Thanks God Sharapova stopped having her dad as coach

Re: Caroline Wozniacki's Father...

Yeah, I felt the same way. She needs to get out from his hold because that coaching technique isn't good for her mentally. It also tips the opponent off even more that there's blood in the water.

Re: Caroline Wozniacki's Father...

She and her dad have a great relationship. Trust me, I've seen so many interviews with them and documentaries following them.

He's just trying to make her focus on court. He's not scolding her. It's his job to make her focus.

Her Dad is a crackpot. I don;t know why she insists on inviting him onto the court, as I can't see how being shouted at like that can possibly be good for her focus

I feel like if she doesn't invite him on court, she'll get yelled at even worse after the match. Commentators mentioned that she wasn't even looking at him for most of his rant...

Re: Caroline Wozniacki's Father...

Its up to Caro really and if she's happy with the arrangement, how can anyone else know better? ..

Piotr is not a coach/trainer as such, he's more of an organizer and scheduler for her.

Re: Caroline Wozniacki's Father...

When he's on court with her he's not her father, he's her coach. Perhaps as a player she responds better to this kind of approach. This is professional sport, managers and coaches are tough with their charges. As long as he remembers to be a dad off the court.

Not many of us speak Polish so we can't really tell what he is saying to her.

He was not that harsh. He often critizes her and says how she should play. Today he told her that she's playing good but it can be better. In the third set he adviced her not to use top spins anymore. It's not like he was mad at her or sth.

Re: Caroline Wozniacki's Father...

It's new to me this having someone come on court to advise on play- is it allowed in all tournaments now......?
