Will Belgians make History in next 48 hours?

Belgians (thanks to Henin, Clijsters and Wickmayer) have chance in Miami/2010 to become just 4th nation since World War II in history of Womans Tennis (after USA, Australia and Russia) to have at least 3 semifinalists at some two-week tennis event! No need to explain why two-weekers (4 slams: AO, RG, Wim, USO +in last about 20 years: IW & Mia) where (mandatory) playing almost all womans TOP100 is so special events.

GIRLS TO WATCH IN NEXT 48 hours (Miami 2010 QF's):
Yanina Wickmayer (BEL) vs M.Bartoli (Today)
Justine Henin (BEL) vs C.Wozniacki (Tomorrow)
Kim Clijsters (BEL) vs S.Stosur (Tomorrow)

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

Re: Will Belgians make History in next 48 hours?

shocking for me that spain and france haven't done it already.

if you have nothing important to say, please do so in non-tennis forum. if you have something you think is important, but is actually rubbish regarding anything other than tennis - please do so in the non-tennis forum. if you have something tennis related to say, but it's actually "OMG, X player is so h0t!1" or "who has the biggest boobs on the wtatour" please do so in menstennisforum, under "wta forum". if you have something important, tennis-related and interesting to say please do so. No one in the world can understand how much tennis means to someone, except another fan.

China (their womans tennis players) actually reach this SF3+ achievement, but due to this thread restrictions (to not count big events before WWII and to not count big TABLE tennis events) I'm decide to "suspend" their success.

Re: Will Belgians make History in next 48 hours?

WTA Belgians currently remind me to ATP Sweden from late 80's, which have also two big stars (Wilander and Edberg) with couple others guys able to reach TOP10 or GS QF/SF (even final once)... but it's never happen 3-ATP-SWE into big-SF in same time. BTW in ATP competition after WWII there is also USA and Australia with this SF3+ achievement, and thanks to RG/clay experts ATP-Spain and even ATP-Argentina also join to this exclusive club.
