Top Players Doing Well at IW

When the next ranking come out, all the IW semi-finalists will be top ten players. As much as it seemed this tournament was nothing but upsets, the semi-finalists are all players who've had consistent solid results in the past twelve months.

Doesn't mean they are the elite of the elite, but good players played good at IW this year.

Better than the ATP where their 20th seeded player is in the SF against the defending champion and 3rd seed.

Petra Kvitova : 2011 Wimbledon and WTA Championships Champion

Re: Top Players Doing Well at IW

The discrepancy comes from the players who were at least THOUGHT to be elite but did not have the rankings to back it up (Henin, Clijsters, Maria) all bombing out. And of course, the Williams sisters not playing.

I always love Indian Wells, I like the surprises there, fresh air is always welcome.
Great players for semis, well at least three of them

The bad thing is they don't seem to be so elite as they are said to be.

one of them won a slam some months ago,one made the final in the previous slam after two years of absence and sharapova is clearly trying to find her form after a serious operation.just because they didn't perform well at indian wells doesn't mean that they aren't 3 of the 5 best players in womens tennis

If that's enough to call them elite, then you have to add Safina, Kuznetsova, Wozniacki and many others to the list. If there is any elite, it consists of only one person - Serena Williams.

um since when?in my opinion,an elite player is a multiple grand slam champion, who has won numerous titles throughout his career and has played some matches that are considered classics.neither safina, nor wozniacki have even won one important title.all of these players are elite if you like it or not

Umm...Venus? Henin?

By your definition of the word how are they not part of the "elite"?

NOT THAT I CARE SO MUCH ANYWAY because in my opinion the only elite is Lena D
