That's actually a pretty strong field so far, if you ask me.

Go Αgi go!

Are the wildcards likely to be given, or are they like the ones at the YEC where they're there in case something unforeseen happens but never actually get used?

My number one: Victoria Azarenka

ATP: Novak Djoković

Crazy Frenchies! Gilles Simon Alizι Cornet

I think they are likely to be given just like last year (Kimiko & Sabine). But they can choose to go with 8 highest ranking as well.

Re: 2010 Race to Bali YEC (updated after Tokyo) + new format & points!

Two wild cards for Bali MM Masters are Ana Ivanovic and Daniela Hantuchova. Ana Ivanovic is WTA Superstar and former #1, and also WTA Mickey Mouse Legend (worst ever MM player in history which ever reach TOP50 - don't count that Canberra $110K tier-V title because by new roadmap classification its ITF Circuit 100K challenger level, not "International") and Daniela Hantuchova deserve this WC probably because she is very loyal player of previous Bali tier-III event there (this 2010 will be her 5th Bali tournament).

Last three MM events this season will be Osaka, Linz and Luxembourg, and currently (TOP6+2WC) Entry list looks:

15. Li Na
16. Aravane Rezai
19. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
20. Yanina Wickmayer
21. Maria Sharapova
23. Kaia Kanepi
29. Daniela Hantuchova
37. Ana Ivanovic

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

Is this fact?
Does Agnes have a chance? Is she playing Moscow or any other events? Would be a shame for her to win two international events and not qualify...

Re: 2010 Race to Bali YEC (updated after Tokyo) + new format & points!

This tournament's goal is to award players who won an International Title and/or supported the events.

Having Ivanovic and Hantuchova is simply ridiculous.
They're not even supporting the International events as Ivanovic only played three while Hantuchova played two.

Giving them WCs may be a good marketing move but it's goes against everything the tournament is for.

Szavay and Kleybanova should be there instead of these two.

She not playing Kremlin Cup this season, but even with Moscow title she will be out of TOP25...

Re: 2010 Race to Bali YEC (updated after Tokyo) + new format & points!

I guess Bondarenko can overtake Szavay in Moscow (I'm assuming she'll play there). She'll need a win or 2.

Why would Szavay need to be top 25 anyway?

And I agree, if this is a tournament designed to support WINNERS of international events, it makes a mockery of it to invite 2 girls who didn't qualify or win anything as some sort of marketing ploy, especially if it comes at the expense of players who support the international series and won multiple events.

You should to watch Kanepi/Wickmayer cases (or Kirilenko if somebody retire) instead A-Bond. And don't pay attention on Ana or Dani rankings... they are Wild Cards.
