The biggest Problem of WTA nowadays.

IMO it's the inconsistency of TONS of players. Young hopes like Lisicki, Pavlyuchenkova, Rezai and Kleybanova seem unable to produce a string of good results, which would make you believe that they're really capable of doing something great in the WTA-Circuit. On a good day, they can beat Top-10, on another day they lose to Top 100. After 1 good Tournament they lose in the 1R of the next Tournament. They play well for maybe 4 Tournaments in a year. Even Wickmayer who had some consistent results over the past weeks had some bad 1R losses now.

But it's not only with the young guns. Petrova, Razzano, Stosur and Zheng are all Top 20 players with 0 consistency. And then there is a couple of players who have a post-AO-crisis. After playing well down under, there isn't much on with them now. Zheng, Bondarenko, Petrova, Kirilenko...

There are only a few really reliable players at the tour at the moment. And this is the sad thing in my Opinion. The Top 20 was really bigger in past years.

N. VAIDISOVA - T. GOLOVIN - A. BONDARENKO - A. SZAVAY
D. HANTUCHOVA - A. PAVLYUCHENKOVA - E. VESNINA - E. SVITOLINA
J. GOERGES - A. WOZNIAK - Y. WICKMAYER - E. BOUCHARD - Ka. PLISKOVA

many of the young hopes are overweight or can't move well.

Agree, but it's almost EVERYONE who's inconsistent and that makes for 0% potential for rivalry. Rivalry is one of the best aspects of tennis, and we're being robbed of that right now.

Well firstly I wouldn't go and say that there "isn't much going on" with Zheng, Bondarenko, Petrova and Kirilenko now just after losing one match each since...come on!

And I would say that the largest issue with players nowadays is their mental state, which is all over the place!! The head is the driving force of players' standard and quality of tennis, while the men seem much more capable of coping with pressure, expectation and building on wins, the women seem to choke under any form of pressure and are comparatively very weak and fragile in that key department.

I would say it is only a sad thing if you make your livelihood betting on tennis matches. Otherwise I'd say it's a good thing. Isn't it much more exciting watching a tennis match when you don't know what will happen and which player will win?

Re: The biggest Problem of WTA nowadays.

I think the WTA's biggest problem is that there was no live stream of Zvonareva-Vesnina or the Sharapova match.
Last summer Clijsters and Jankovic played at a Tier I with no live streaming

There are plenty of consistent players. Henin is ultra consistent. Caro is consistent. Consistent players get criticized as much as the others

The most wasted of all days is one without laughter....
Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there
Enjoy This Moment!!
HEALTH and HAPPINESS to EVERYONE
