Women's tennis needs more indoor tournaments

The quality of matches this week has, on average, easily been the best so far this season. Yes, the points are quicker, but that's because players can actually hit winners on carpet.

ugh, why do they all suck????????

I think it's enough. Paris, Stuttgart(Is it still Indoor Clay?), Moscow, Luxembourg, Linz.

it is not enough, there is way too many outdoor harcourts these days. some of the best tournaments that were indoors are gone and it is sad because indoor tennis can be great. it also is great for t.v audiences and the crowd as tennis is deffinately happening not waste of air time rain delays.

Re: Women's tennis needs more indoor tournaments

^ true. But it would be difficult since the organizers need to find an indoor arena.

By the way, is Tokyo still indoor?

it has a maincourt with a roof, but it is classed as outdoor.

more grass would be great but it aint happening, wimbledon wont move and neither will the french.

Re: Women's tennis needs more indoor tournaments

Yeah, the quality of tennis has been great, but I think it's more of the players playing well than the court. Last year's Paris tournament's matches still don't beat this season's Paris matches. Because even through the last few tournaments I feel that there are DEFINITELY more matches with more winners than UE's.

Re: Women's tennis needs more indoor tournaments

If anyone wants to organize an indoor tournament, please make it in Poland. We have more indoor arenas than outdoor ones + our girls play their best tennis indoors

I don't really think the tour needs more grass tournaments. On grass we have always a lot of injuries. That's the worst surface to play tennis. WTA was much more fascinating with the longer indoor season, especially in autumn. We were discussing this topic on GM several times last year. Lepizig-Filderstadt-Moscow-Zurich-Linz-Philadelphia... 5 or 6 weeks of great tennis plus MM events in Bratislava and Luxembourg. Then we had after Australian Open - Tokyo PPO, Paris and Antwerp. Now we have downgraded Moscow, Linz and this Paris event. So sad that all these economic factors forced WTA to get rid of indoor tournaments.

Re: Women's tennis needs more indoor tournaments

Definitely!
Bring back Zurich and Antwerp, make Moscow P5, and add indoor tournaments in a lot of countries without tournaments like Serbia, Croatia, Greece, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovakia, ... and maybe add a MM in Russia
Greece has many indoor arenas, especially from the Olympics but even before that and even in other cities

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.
