Wondering...

now that Serena has beaten her top foe fairly convincingly (without her best game), might she revert to her old habit of showing up unfit with the expectation of willing herself to win?

Re: Wondering...

I hope she won't

But if she does, she knows what is coming at her.
Most women now can go the distance, she won't even get to meet her main rivals because she she would lose early.

Re: Wondering...

She's not stupid. She knows Henin will be better and I think losing to Kim convincingly at USO gave her more motivation for this year.

Serena is making up for lost time and she's not going to slack off. I think now more than ever she understands what legacy she can create.

I always wanted to be somebody. If I made it, it's half because I was game enough to take a lot of punishment along the way and half because there were a lot of people who cared enough to help me.

This. She wants weeks at #1, she wants the doubles #1, she wants more slams. You only get those by showing up with your best. (Or near best )

Re: Wondering...

I'm not so sure. She has a March appearance @ HSN. They are all excited about her coming appearance and victory. Joy Mongano was like she's like my daughter just a wonderful person...whatever. Most vendors do 2-3 shows a day for 48 hours...how can she take that much time to sell jewelry etc. on tv likely before Miami?

She can do it.

Re: Wondering...

I hope not! I always thought as good as her 2007 victory in Australia was, she used it as an excuse to sit on her ass the rest of the year-literally! Masha trashing her in that final would have resulted in a better year for her, I think.

I think this year will be like last year, she will work hard and show up prepared when it counts.

Re: Wondering...

Hasn't it already been established that Serena's biggest foe is Serena?

Re: Wondering...

The Australian Open should have motivated her to work even harder. The last stages of that tournament for Serena was a lot harder than it should have been.
I think the fact that she hurt herself prior to the Open isn't her fault. She worked hard to not only to win the singles title but the doubles also. So I think if she could have things her way she would definitely stay physically fit so that she can continue to win grand slams.

The Williams Sisters

It's great to be a fan of the two most talented women in tennis.

Only IDIOTS count out the Williams sisters!!!
Serena: 13 Slams, ranked: #1
Venus: 7 Slams, ranked: #2

Yes I do...espcially when u factor in the fact that Serena was on 1 leg had a sprained wrist and tried to choke the match away...I know it hurts...but it's true.

Well........I did see that she has entered a hot dog eating contest in New Jersey next week.
