Who Among the Top Players Would Playing Doubles Help Their Game?

The answer to that question may well be 'none of them'. Venus and Serena have played with and against each other all their lives. They have to practice far less than most doubles teams would, and they only play slams. Any new team would have to play regularly, with the resulting wear and tear on the body.

Still .....

1) Ivanovic
a) It can't hurt.
b) She'd get more match play.
c) She's tall and can volley, so with the right partner, she'd win a few tournaments. Just winning again might make a difference.
2) Safina - Really good at what she does. Hit with power from the baseline. Other than that .....

3) Azarenk - see 'Safina'

Can't see how it would change anything for Kuznetsova or Dementieva. I don't think Wozniacki's game would translate.

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Playing more doubles will only help those who aren't afraid of charging the net to force the play. They will not necessarily venture towards the net like Henin would to knock off a volley winner, but would charge it hoping to smack a swing volley or a punch volley. Safina would definitely not be helped by playing doubles as the girl is afraid of the net. Jankovic would be helped by this as her game is built to attack the net after opening up the court. She's so dumb though that she likes to camp out on the baseline and try to blast winners with weak groundstrokes as the match length increases.

Big hitters like Dokic and Azarenka who aren't terribly afraid of venturing forward would benefit as well. So will Kuznetsova. The girl is a fantastic doubles player, and with her heavy topspin she could incorporate a net game into her style of play.

Ivanovic, sadly, is just a lost cause. Plus she goes for the kill shot with a vengeance, so her venturing to net after a hard hit shot will be for nothing as the ball will either land in for a winner, or get buried into the net/be sent 5 feet past the baseline for an error.

Sharapova needs some volleying skills.

Safina in doubles is like a completely different player. She is relaxed, she can loosen up and volley with ease (see Beijing 2009 w/ Kuznetsova).

On the other hand, everyone has off days (see Sydney 2010 w/ Kirilenko) and Doubles can be a good training process for net play and reflexes.
