Re: Worst Pronunciation of Names

omg ivaninevic

Not a specific example, but I love how people almost always put the accent on the OH-va in Russian names, which is almost always wrong, except in the name Kuznetsova... and then they pronounces it Kuz-NET-so-va.

Re: Worst Pronunciation of Names

It grates me when Rusedski says "Dzhahnkovich" when talking about Jankovic.

Re: Worst Pronunciation of Names

For some reason, many of the Australian commentators (Nicole Pratt, Fred Stole, Roger Rasheed) used to pronounce the Serbian players -vik. And I still can't figure out why they called Gonzo "Francisco Gonzalez"

When Dick Enberg pronounces Venus, "Serena"

I always wanted to be somebody. If I made it, it's half because I was game enough to take a lot of punishment along the way and half because there were a lot of people who cared enough to help me.

He kind of half pronounces the J. He makes it sound really weird, it's one of the reasons why I can't stand him.

ESPN Sportscenter guys are the WORST. But bless them for trying.

During the AO I heard them call Zheng Jie, Zing Cha.

And here you are, a black unicorn.

Zing Cha

OTOH, Sam Smith pronounces the best. She managed to pronounce Noppawan Lertcheewakarn (I think)...but she did stumble a bit.
