Sharapova will get a lot of early rest

After Maria Sharapova suffered an early stunning loss at the hands of Maria Kirilenko last week, Sharapova wil not spring into action untl the Morgan Keegan tournamnent in Memphis beginning on Feb 15th. That will be almost a month of rest. Then she will take more rest until March 8th when plays at Indian Wells. Then she plays at Miami following Indian Wells.

Pam Shriver already ripped into Maria for not playing one of the warmups prior to the Australia, but instead playing in an exhibition, stating it's not the same thing. Now it looks like Pam Shriver will have a lot more talk about with Sharapova being idol from game action again.

Go Wickmayer, Sharapova ,Lisicki

I think Maria needs the rest between tournaments. She probably didn't expect to lose in Rd.1 in Melbourne, though...
If Pam's got a problem with Masha's schedule, she can complain all she wants. It's not gonna change a damn thing!

I think it's a smart schedule for her.
I guess we can call this Maria's "Back To Basics" tour.

Although she did play well on green clay, I don't think it's a good surface for her because of her movement.
She's bound to get injuries (upper leg typically) on that surface.

So after Miami, I wouldn't be surprised if she took another rest for the green clay season and then played in Europe for her warm up for the French Open.
Then probably a trip to Birmingham but I wouldn't be suprised if she switched things up and played the UNICEF Open instead.

Wawrinka's ass.
