Worshipping Hingis then, Wozniacki now!

That girl really reminds me my beloved Martina Hingis in so many ways. The way she walks, that all-time smile, high forehead. Shame she has a weak netgame now, but her backhand was on fire in the match vs Jankovic. I'd never seen her hit it so flat and hard before.
And after her yesterday's achievement, fighting the cramps and tears on her face, she really moved me. I've always liked her, now she's my idol :)

Who joins the club?

Sorry, there is no comparison, and neither Woz nor Aga remind me of Hingis (people compare them to Hingis that only because they have a decent court-sense and no power, so they cannot think of anyone else to compare them with).

Martina could flatten out her forehand, serve better, had a net game that is leagues above Caro's and could also play with incredible variety. Wozniacki has nothing of that in her game.

In-form Chakvetadze is the player more reminiscent of Hingis.

Caroline is no Hingis. Hingis, to say the least, is a once in a generation tennis genius who won't be replicated for a long time to come.

On the other hand, Caroline is a terrific fighter. Her strengths lies in her ability to raise the so-called retrieving tennis playing style to a whole new dimension. That's where she is dangerous. Like Schett said in her assessment of Caroline, she is still young and will be able to develop more weapons as she matures in the years to come. She's just getting started.

Am I saying Caroline is Hingis? I don't dare to. As a Hingis fan I realize there will be no Hingis again, and wrote that Caroline's game is nowhere to Martina's but her on-court attitude is Hingis-like. Caroline admired Martina, maybe that explains her similar to her idol on-court behaviour.

Kinda, still no one will replace Hingis in my heart. But Caroline...her smile, her forehead, her grunt...those are the qualities that remind me of Hingis.

I think she talks almost exactly like Hingis.

I'm a long time Martina Hingis fan but I also a Caroline Wozniacki fan you know ! But there's no way comparing Martina with Caroline :)

Are you a Hingis fan? Or just pretending. Go burn yourself on a stake for uttering such heresy.

Hingis is a first ballot HOFer.
But I can see a comparison in their facial expressions. They both look like they enjoy the competition.
Caro fought well this week. But her game isn't like Martina's.
I was impressed how she fought against Vera. But Vera has some health issues too. That's why Aga is playing Vika now.

Get back to me when Caroline asks her opponent: Do you want me to serve or break you?

Or: I thought it was funny that she was trying so hard out there like she actually had a chance to win the match.

Martina. :worship:

The one thing Caro has on Martina is mental strength. Hingis had a swagger, but she was a headcase at times.

Everything else, no way. Hingis is leagues greater.

Totally disagree. I hated Hingis (I don't even know why but I go with my instinct). Caroline is a lovely girl, a breath of fresh hair. I always hated Hingis' fake demeanor and fake smile.
At least you didn't write "a breath of fresh pubic hair"

I like Caroline, she's slowly moving into favourite territory. I've been finding a mini-replacement after Hingis retired. I say 'mini' because no one will ever replace the genius that is Martina Hingis. But I do see the similarities. Caroline clearly doesn't have the talent of Martina but she has the star power and bubbly off-court persona. :)
