What would make the most interesting matches at DOHA?

Doha is set, though is missing Kim (U.S. Open Champion) and Maria (a multi-slam Slam and YEC champion). What matches will make the most intriguing match-ups.

Serena v. Sveta: Serena took Sveta out in route to Aus Open; Sveta took Serena out in route to the French Open.

Venus v. Jelena: always, always, DRAMA!

Elena v. Serena: Elena has given Serena the hardest time all year; ran the Wimbie Champ all around the court so much so that she went looking for her serve and forehand which both "went on vacation."

Vika v. Caro: who's best of the next generation?

Dinara v. Sveta: battled it out during clay court season and Sveta got the better edge in the end. Will Dinara want revenged.

Venus v. Serena: snooze or the best two of their generation fighting it out, again for the big prize.

Re: What would make the most interesting matches at DOHA?

I'm actually most curious about Caro vs. Serena. I have very high hopes for Caro, but I'm not sure if she can compete at Serena's level. This match will help establish whether she can or not. Hopefully it will at least be close

Definitely Serena v. Sveta - to be quite frank I can't really get too excited about this tournament due to the current form of some of the players and my personal dislike of a few others but this is one of the matches I really hope we will get

Hlavackova, Strycova, Venus, Serena, Schiavone, Hradecka, Safarova, Cetkovska, Pliskova, Kasatkina, Putintseva, Ostapenko, Gasparyan

Sam Smith on Hlavackova

Venus vs Kuznetsova is the most fascinating match-up for me. Their matches haven't been stellar, but the potential is there for a good match. The standard of hitting both can produce is incredible.

Serena vs The Kuz is my choice. Go Kuz! I hope I get to see Jankovic yelling at the umpire. Shake em up Janko!

Re: What would make the most interesting matches at DOHA?

Vika/Serena, Caro/Serena and/or Serena/Dementieva. Eventually a Caro/Vika could be interesting but definitively not the best math up I'ld be looking for in terms of drama !

Genie - Victoria - Kristina.

Re: What would make the most interesting matches at DOHA?

I think there is a lot of potential for great match ups. Most everybdoy took a break and haven't played in a few weeks so I'm hoping everybody is rested, healthy, and ready to go.

Serena/Dinara- Who is the real number one? Question of the year on the WTA tour. Some may nt agree thinking Serena will roll over Dinara but two things make this interesting.

A) This isn't a Grand Slam so you don't know what you'll get with Serena. However I think she knows this is just almost as big as a major and we will see some of the play she produces in the Slams and Miami.

B)Dinara has no pressure here. Should have no pressure that is. She didn't win any matches last year so defending points shouldn't be an issue. They haven't played each other since Serena's comments about Dinara being number one, so one has to wonder if Dinara will be motivated to put Serena in her place.

Venus/Kuznetsova- These two have never played a match where both were playing well IMO. If both play to their potential this has potential to be match of the tournament. Venus has to master they controlled aggression and consistency she did last year at the YEC. Kuznetsova played extremely well in Beijing. But remeber what happened after the FO? She went on a three month funk. You have to wonder if she can stay focused and keep up her tremendous level of play.

Caro/Wiliams Sisters- Caro is classified as a pusher which I don't tink is accuarte but that's not what this thread is for. With them she knows that her counter punching won't cut it. She will have to step up to the plate and go for it. I understand why people don't like her, as she isn't as aggressive as she could be. That being said, she is extremely consistent and Venus/Serena will have to earn their win agains her.

Dementieva/JJ- Always fun and entertaining. I just want Lena to improve her record against JJ.

Azarenka/Serena- I just love the drama in their matches. You just feel the tension.

Azarenka/Caro- Who is the youngster to be reckoned with?

JJ/Williams Sisters- Always high drama. If they all bring their best tennis should produce some of the most exciting matches we've seen this year.

Bring on the YEC!!

I would love to see Venus vs Azarenka really much, Azarenka has grown soo much, should be an entertaining match. Second match is the match between Venus and Svetlana
