I think there is a lot of potential for great match ups. Most everybdoy took a break and haven't played in a few weeks so I'm hoping everybody is rested, healthy, and ready to go.
Serena/Dinara- Who is the real number one? Question of the year on the WTA tour. Some may nt agree thinking Serena will roll over Dinara but two things make this interesting.
A) This isn't a Grand Slam so you don't know what you'll get with Serena. However I think she knows this is just almost as big as a major and we will see some of the play she produces in the Slams and Miami.
B)Dinara has no pressure here. Should have no pressure that is. She didn't win any matches last year so defending points shouldn't be an issue. They haven't played each other since Serena's comments about Dinara being number one, so one has to wonder if Dinara will be motivated to put Serena in her place.
Venus/Kuznetsova- These two have never played a match where both were playing well IMO. If both play to their potential this has potential to be match of the tournament. Venus has to master they controlled aggression and consistency she did last year at the YEC. Kuznetsova played extremely well in Beijing. But remeber what happened after the FO? She went on a three month funk. You have to wonder if she can stay focused and keep up her tremendous level of play.
Caro/Wiliams Sisters- Caro is classified as a pusher which I don't tink is accuarte but that's not what this thread is for. With them she knows that her counter punching won't cut it. She will have to step up to the plate and go for it. I understand why people don't like her, as she isn't as aggressive as she could be. That being said, she is extremely consistent and Venus/Serena will have to earn their win agains her.
Dementieva/JJ- Always fun and entertaining. I just want Lena to improve her record against JJ.
Azarenka/Serena- I just love the drama in their matches. You just feel the tension.
Azarenka/Caro- Who is the youngster to be reckoned with?
JJ/Williams Sisters- Always high drama. If they all bring their best tennis should produce some of the most exciting matches we've seen this year.
Bring on the YEC!!
