Re: Luxemburg R1: Sabine Lisicki (GER) def. Iveta Benesova (CZE) 6:1 6:4
Sabine hit 3 great drop shots today. Two of the drop shots ended games. In game 10 of the final game in set 2, Sabine hit a drop shot to give herself a 30-0 lead, then followed up with an Ace on the next point. Sabine was leading 5-3 in game 9 and had 4 match points, but Benesova was resilent holding in game 9. Sabine was not going to fall apart like she did against Rodionova. Sabine held at Love in game 10 to win in straight sets.
In game one of set one Sabine sent a message to Benesova that her serve was going to be overpowering. Lisicki served 3 Aces in the ist set to win the ist game easily. Sabine would match her own power in game 3 of the ist set by forcing 2 unreturned serves and an Ace to take a 3-0 lead. Lisicki then showed versatility in game 4 by hitting a forehand crosscourt winner to end game 4, giving Sabine a 4-0 lead.
Sabine lead 5-1 going into game 7, with Sabine wasting no time in taking a 40-0 lead in game 7. Benesova tied game 7 at 40-40, but Sabine came back to win the game and the set 6-1.
Lisicki was never broen the entire match. Benesova went 4 straight games in set 2 without being broken, however she was broken in the ist game of the 3rd set, then Sabine consolidated in game 2 set 2 with with 2 Aces holding at Love.
