She looked GOOD this USO, championship winning GOOD! Stars were aligned, then that bitch called a foot-fault just when Serena was about to begin her comeback!

I'm surprised the thread starter is American because you should know following other sports in our country that this incident isn't any different than the countless others who've been ejected from basketball games, baseball games, and hockey games. All those athletes sporting the swoosh (Nike) have never had to worry about being kicked out of a game and losing their contracts- so why should Serena??

i mentioned this in another thread. they stood by Kobe Bryant,Mike Vick even after he was indicted. they dropped him only after massive pressure. they even paid Tonya Harding's legal fees even. And let's not forget the countless others that have been arrested for drunk driving, spousal abuse, etc.

Behind you one million percent Vicky D! You will prevail In Jesus Name. Amen.

Funny that Serena has her own "Are you serious" moment now. Raise your hand if you think it would have happened before now?

Re: Will Nike cancel Serena's contract?

Nike probably not, but I would expect Serena to lose some of her smaller sponsors/endorsement deals. Of course. And for those of you who don't agree look at Michael Phelps and what happened to him for a simple photo holding a bong. Tons of people dropped him, so no it really isn't that far fetched.

Yes, breaking the law is comparable to cussing out a linesperson.

Nice to see logic is not lost on posters here.

Re: Will Nike cancel Serena's contract?

Is she even with Nike anymore? When did she resign?

I seriously doubt it'll get cancelled. They've had much much worse behaving athletes on their payroll, including Kobe Bryant who was accused of rape.

Re: Will Nike cancel Serena's contract?

Apparently a lot of people think this is no big deal, and in that case, Nike will surf at the level of public opinion.

IMO this behavior is well below the level of acceptable, and it is really shocking how many people are excusing it away.

I do think it will have a longer term effect - future offers will be both smaller and fewer.
