Re: Why won't they show a replay of the "footfault?"

They did. And it wasn't a fucking foot fault. The biggest ever.
Kim probably would have won anyway.

But that Vania King lookalike should lose her job after that shit.

they replayed it about 5-6x from the last angle they showed you can see a better view...her foot was on the line.

Re: Why won't they show a replay of the "footfault?"

I think it was a foot-fault but there is no fucking reason to call that at 5-6 15-30 second serve. If your foot is a centimetre over the line does it really matter?

I haven't seen it from a good angle they showed it from behind but if you've seen a better angle I'll take your word for it and rules are rules!

RIP Elena Baltacha, thank you for dedicating your life to a sport we all love. You'll be missed but never forgotten.

YES it does and rules are rules - where do you draw the line then if that's the case?

The replay showed that just prior to launching herself up into the serve, Serena's front foot slides sideways. If the umpire saw that foot brush the baseline, that is a foot fault. The replay did not show her foot from the front. But, the front foot on the replay did slide sideways.

And, what's so bad about looking like Vania King? Oh, I get it. You were being racist.

Steffi Graf was part of a youth tennis group that was studied from age 12 and then followed, and the scientists called her "the perfect talent" even then. In addition to her many tennis-specific skills, her aerobic capacity was on par with the best distance runners in Europe. --- David Epstein, The Sports Gene

Re: Why won't they show a replay of the "footfault?"

I saw a replay from the back but it wasn´t very clear. I do think the linejudge was confident in her call and it was the correct one. It´s sad that it´s at matchpoint. I wish they hadn´t taken the point and give kim a real celebration.

What can you do? Serena smashed a racket after the first set to get a warning, so if she really said something offensive to the linejudge(which looked like it) according to the rules she should lose a point...

It's unfortunate, i wish it ended differently... Especially for kim. Hopefully she'll get a real ending tomorrow, i really hope she does.

Of course it matters. If it was a challenge on a line call and the ball was a centimeter "out," should they blow off the rules and call the ball "in?" A foot fault does not occur only if your foot is "way" over the service line. Your foot can't touch the line. Period. Not even a centimeter.

This whole thing sort of reminds me of when Daniela H got a point penalty on match point down at some Calif hardcourt tournament one summer for delay of game. Obviously the reason is different here but code violations don't care what the score of the match is.

John McEnroe is hardly a Serena fan, and he kept saying this was not a footfault.
