What now for Nicole Vaidisova?

Just wondering if anyone knew what Vaidisova was planning to do for the rest of 2009, now that according to Boiled Egg's calculations, she will slump to around 186 in the world after the US Open. Is she hitting the Japan/Australian ITFs to try and bump her ranking back up or will she be playing WTA qualies (a not v successful plan so far)?

186?!

I say, skip the rest of the year, work out what she wants, whether she wants to paly or not, work out why her head is (apparently) fucked (if she recognises it to be so) and work hard for 2010.

...and go out on the pull.

Shvedova Babos

I know that it may sound weird, but I would be really excited if she would play ITF tournaments (50k, 75k). Maybe she could win a match there and rebuild her game.

Re: What now for Nicole Vaidisova?

To be honest, I think she's finished. It's a terrible shame, because she once had more potential than Ivanovic in my opinion, and certainly more than that other Serbian girl and Marat Safin's sister...names elude me.

But she's just not interested for one reason and another. It was the same with Krasnaroutskaya, and Mirjana Lucic, both of whom had top 5 potential but lost interest and started spraying.

It's strange, you'd think that with no advanced educational qualifications, and millions of dollars out there to be won, they'd play on just because it's a good earning if nothing else. Lucic and Lina K must have missed out on millions.

But it just goes to show, money ain't everything.

I saw her at Stepanek's match on Monday. She's all about supporting him and taking pics of Radek lol
I don't think she's into playing anymore.

Re: What now for Nicole Vaidisova?

I personally think the $25k in Darwin, Australia has that cakewalk feel that our Nikki needs - only Olivia Rogowska of the top 250 is entered, and there are main draw players ranked as low as 516! Not that that saved her against the illustrious Stacey Tan of glorious memory!

Nevertheless, maybe we should bombard the tournament organisers with emails requesting a wild card for her..the great thing about this event is that there is another 25k there the next week so she would save on air fares. The second event only features 2 top 250 players as Monique Adamczak is planning to fly in as well!! Plus she could stay in Australia for a few more weeks with events with presumably similar dud entry lists.

Or if she is a bit tired, maybe she could do two weeks of Lagos 25k ITFs in October, they don't usually attract a stellar entry either!

She needs a break more than anything right now imo and she should comeback only next year killin' it at the hardcourt season and get her big comeback to top form at the AO.[/dream]

She could be a star in "The Real Housewives of Prague"

She is no NeNe, but she would be good on this type of show!

Re: What now for Nicole Vaidisova?

There's no point playing ITF events unless you're actually bothered.

Sometimes players have catastrophic losses of confidence, but in Nicole's case I tend to think it's more of a loss of interest in the game. Her game was pretty much flawless. Her movement wasn't amazing, but there was no great problem with it. Technically, she was number one potential. I don't see that much could have gone wrong if she's working hard.

To play on the ITF, where you collect your own balls and win peanuts per match, you have to be tough, and to really want to get yourself out of those circumstances. Most are players with no dreams, who just want to eke out an average wage doing what they do best. And she'd make her own way, with no chauffeur service, cross country to challengers in the middle of Romania, or the Ukraine.

I can't see Nicole doing that.
