The Dementieva & Jankovic defeats prove Serena right...once again

And proves the wta is a real hot mess right now more than ever. Dementieva, the recent Toronto winner and leading the US Open series just pathetically crashed out today once again in a GS. Jankovic, winner of mandatory Cincy did the same. With a bunch of losers like these two (Safina should follow suit soon) when it matters, what needs to be done to save the Tour ? Meanwhile Serena is all pumped up, and is clearly the favourite for the USO, and must be laughing inside.

Ok, first you have a problem of understanding my thread. Second you are being reported, just like the other two who are here to insult other forumers.

You say "when it matters" ... but you could clearly argue... slams aren't that tough if Safina playing as bad as she's played can still win two matches. Her opponents should not have been in a GS... or maybe... they should have been... which shows how slams are really not that tough until the final rounds. Perhaps the slams should only be one week and 32 players. Premiere I's are way tougher as the players have to play tough matches right off the bat. If the "wta is a real hot mess" it's because its stars... Serena... don't care about the tour... only the slams. That's why it's a mess... and that plain and simple is why there's a number one that people despise.
By Serena's standards... of only caring about the slams and can't get motivated for the other events... Janko and Demie could say they only care about playing tough players and can't get motivated for weaker opponents. So in other words... Demie and Janko's losses today "prove" only that they are players who take what should be an easy match too lightly... and they lose.
If Serena's right... then let's quit playing the rest of the season and play only the slams... The SLAMS are rediculus... look at some of the players. Women in this tournament and ranked in the 60's have like 10-16 lifettime records and 7-9 2009 records.... THEY SHOULD NOT be in slams... that says the tour does not have enough depth to field a "slam field". I'm always stunned when I open up player bios who are ranked in the 60's and find they have losing lifetime and losing current year records. MY God, there are more than 1000 players... they should have more wins to be in a slam.

STFU.

Would you prefer all players took Serena's attitude to the tour and didn't bother attending most normal tournaments, why not scrap the whole WTA tour and just have Grand Slams, that would be wonderful

The Tour has depth which is why upsets happen.

Also Serena's sis didn't exactly have a cake walk against Dushevina.

Well, apparently not all players - and certainly not Dementieva nor Jankovic - have the mental power that makes a real champion. I'm not happy about it. But you don't see a Federer winning Cincy or Murray winning Montreal pathetically crashing out in the 2nd round of the USO.
Oh and btw Venus didn't lose against Dushevina.
But I sympathize with your bitterness and that of others.

I think the upsets happened because Oudin and Shvedova played lights out when they had to: a lot of heart and fight. They were a revelation and I actually think they're good for the game - new faces with a lot of variety. That doesn't make Dementieva and Jankovic crap players.

Jankovic didn't play badly from what I saw, I didn't see Dementieva so cannot comment.

This shows Shvedova just upped her game.

Elena and JJ's losses have nothing to do with serena but everything to do with Oudin and shevdonova (sp)!

Rena- a tennis great! 22 at striking distance.
