Malaysia and Denmark getting events interesting. Good list, I am kind of sick of the Dubai/Memphis/Bogota trio though.

Re: WTA 2010 Calendar-Probably Not Definite Though...

I remember a time when there was a televised tier 2 tournament pretty much every week

But wait, I thought this year was the last ever Birmingham event? Or so I heard anyways...

Kuznetsova

... for some reason.

No they renegotiated Birmingham, although they say it could drop to a 32 field if they can find another event somewhere else during the same week.

Re: WTA 2010 Calendar-Probably Not Definite Though...

Too me it still seems like they could make some improvemnts-only slight tweeking to make it more streamlined.
For example, Pattaya and KL should be back to back.
Shouldn't have 3 events in one week.
So, After FEd Cup 1 it should be
Paris
Doha Bogata
Pattaya Acapulco
KL Monterrey

The other way to fix that up is to move the Paris INddors to Fall. Bigger deal i know
It is f'cked that it is in Feb surounded by clay or hard hourts. Nothing else in Europe. No good

I also think I haev read TBE say muliple times Q City should move to the Spring to back onto Memphis. Great great idea.

My ideals would be

Australia x4 weeks (leave as is)
FEd Cup
Quebec City /Pattaya City
Memphis/ KL
Bogata/Dubai
Acapulco (leave open for possible international event in Asia/mid east or Central/South A)
Monterrey (leave open for possible international event in Asia/mid east or Central/South A)
IW
IW
Miami
Miami
Fed Cup 2
Ponte Verde/Marbella
Charlie/Barca
Stut/Estril
Roma/Fes
MADRID
Stras/Warsaw
French

LEave the American season pretty much the same (although I would have thought it would make sense to have Bastaad and Denmark as back to back events)

Agin trying to have events in the same country back to back in Fall- you could have

Tashkent-Seoul
Osaka-Ghou.
Tokyo
BEIJING
Paris Indoor-Linz
Moscow-Lux
DOHA
BALI/FED CUp

I still more than anything would like Wimby and French to have 3 weeks in between.

Also, I thought Warsaw was in japrady? IF so, (esp since Kimmy back) Antwerp could buy rights and have event the week before French- Close. Makes sense. Maybe downgrade to a INternationl??

And Linz, read Serbia was thinking of buying it?

Thanks for posting BTW

GOD the wta and they schedule's, it never seems to make sense. Why not move the Family circle cup before spain, so spain is the first clay tourney in europe.

Re: WTA 2010 Calendar-Probably Not Definite Though...

the fall season is a mess again ?(outdoor asia to indoor europe then back to outdoor asia)

also the tournies beteen AO and IW are in ridiculous order with no structure...

many improvements are desperately needed however liking the new additions of kuala lumpur and copenhagan

ideally, another asian outdoor international event would run alongside monterrey to make that week a little more interesting ?one in india would be great

note the 3 week snoozefest post wimbledon remains

Re: WTA 2010 Calendar-Probably Not Definite Though...

There shouldn't really be a week gap between Pattaya City and Kuala Lumpa - needs a tournament there to fill the gap in that area. Wasn't Singapore going to have a tournament at one stage?

Interesting about new tournament in Copenhagen.

And this calender looks like we haven't lost a tournament I think.
