Nice win for Magda. Am slowly becoming a fan of hers since I saw her at Birmingham this year.

Rybarikova's last three wins have all been in three sets. At least she's winning now.

I think this is her best showing in a slam, right? I hope she can make the fourth round, but this is pretty nice still.

Why the exclamation marks? They would have been justified if the young qualifier from Taipei had pulled another upset. Great breakthrough for her nontheless.

Rybarikova also made the USO 3rd round last year.

Re: US Open R2: Magdalena Rybarikova def. Kai-Chen Chang 4-6 6-2 6-2!!

Watched the whole match with Daniela-Is-Mine. First time seeing both players and I have to say imo both players have bright futures ahead of them.

Kai-Chen has some solid groundstrokes. Very solid off both sides, quite flat and compact off both sides, not noticing too much weaknesses about it. Serve is good but needs a bit of work, imo. It was strong at the beginning but got worse as the match wore on, Magda kept breaking and it's not as if Magda has one of the greatest ROS out there. Transition to the net and volleys in general needs work as well. But she's still young and these are things that can improve. I can totally see why she beat Kanepi in the first round, and think she has a bright future ahead of her.

Magda is more beautiful in person than she is in pictures. Serve is excellent. A lot of pop on the first serve and kick on the second. Beautiful forehand with her serve is her weapon and could also finish points at the net. Movement is solid around the court as well. Backhand is a mixed bag of potatoes. Her slice backhand is a thing of beauty. So much variety she can create with it, that she was able to constantly draw an error from Kai-Chen. Her two-handed backhand needs work though. Not a lot of weight at all and she doesn't penetrate through the shot at all.

I was very impressed with Magda if Vee is off her game, I could definitely see her cause some trouble.
