Capriati's comeback is now the only one missing.

Capriati's un-announced 5-year disappearance from the WTA generated surprisingly little interest or press coverage. Yet Capriati comeback would potentially make far more of an impact on the tour than Pierce, Myskina, or even Hingis. What the hell is going on with her, does anybody know?? It's irony that a player who originally burned out from too much attention as a teen, now flies so low under the radar.

Re: Capriati's comeback is now the only one missing.

The Capriati/Serena and Capriati/Hingis rivalries were glorious. But Jennifer will never return as her injury was so severe. Not that long ago there was a very sad interview with Jennifer - posted on here - where she described the deep depression she has been going through since her retirement. It wasn't a very good advert for life after retirement for tennis players. No marriage to fall back on like Graf, no children, and no other interests. Jennifer has been struggling to make a life for herself outside tennis. Which is why those that slag of the Williams should think twice - it's a long life after 30 for a tennis player and if the player has nothing else then it need not be a very happy one.

I miss her badly - she was a fantastic all court player with oodles of natural talent and extremely entertainig to watch. She had every shot in the book.

Monica Seles Superstar. Her fans never forget.

Players I root for now: Heather, Laura, Lucie, Marion, Serena, Simona, Svetlana, Venus, Vika. And Caroline.
Doubles and Mixed Doubles are fun and underrated.

thanx, can you post the thread link?

and secondly, why was her injury severe? It was an ongoing shoulder problem, it's not as though she suddenly injured and had to stop playing...

Re: Capriati's comeback is now the only one missing.

Watching the US Open makes me yearn for the glory days of womens tennis. The Williams sisters, Hingis, Capriati, Davenport, Clisters and Henin.
These women could sure play tennis and were such great compitetors and personalities. These qualities are really missing in today's tennis.

Here is the link to the interview. It was the New York Daily News 2007. Poor jennifer even mentions she had suicidle thoughts - which is a symptom of depression. Anyway, all the best to her. I really miss her.

That interview was so sad. I want Jennifer to just be happy with herself, and tennis, unfortunately, is not a possibility on the pro level.

NEVER read that interview while listening to "I'm Not That Girl"...it will make you cry.

Next stop: Roland Garros

Ana ('08 RG), Serena (21), Venus (7), Petra (2), Angie ('16 AO)
Vika (2), Sveta (2), Simona, Garbi, Ka. Pliskova
Kim (4), Mahree (2), Monica (9), Dokic, Sandrine, Jie

why "the only one missing"? it's not like henin, pierce and myskina have already come back.

Re: Capriati's comeback is now the only one missing.

Jennifer already had her comeback and the most successful to date. What she should be doing now is focus on what she is going to do for the rest of her life. She is still a relatively young woman therefore she should get professional help if necessary to figure out something else she is interested in and continue on with life. I strongly doubt she is capable of playing again, like Monica.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the SILENCE OF OUR FRIENDS. MLK
