Negativity Armistice for the USO?

Well... I know I'm probably being unfeasibly hopeful here... but I'd like to call for a temporary reprieve, even if just for the busy US Open period, from all the posts which say things like "oh, I've never seen worse tennis" and "dear me, things are just plain awful" and "oh I hate player X, they suck" or "things were much better in the past, the game is terrible and all new players play terrible tennis."

Maybe I'm just weird, but I find it hard to open general messages half the time because it's so fucking depressing. I don't understand what people want to achieve by all this negativity other than to kill off what enthusiasm remains for the sport in others. There are a lot of errors in the modern game, it's undeniable... it's the way things have gone as women have strived to hit harder and riskier but lacked the muscle and technique to always control the increased ambition. This isn't going to be liked by everyone... hey it's not really to my tastes either (I'd rather see more consistency and more girls playing with more variety and better margin for error) but I can't fix a thing by complaining about it to people who are equally in no position to fix anything. I'm not a coach, nor a player, just a poster on a board who shares an interest with others on the same board. I don't expect people to be unendingly positive, but entire threads and posts which do nothing but echo doom about the game are just pointless and depressing. Find something positive to enjoy about the game... find a new player to root for for a couple of rounds... or if it really is the most terrible play you've ever seen, why not avert your eyes and try not to spoil what little enjoyment the rest of us are managing to wring from things?

Anyway... feel free to mock, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try asking people to perhaps think about just trying to be a little more positive sometimes...

Okay, I'll stop. I'm being very critical today and a little pissy, prolly cause I haven't had any coffee or something j/k.

So you want an Honesty Armistice?

If Safina or Venus stink up the joint, this is where tennis fans are supposed to talk about it.

I love Venus and like Safina...but C'mon Man, it is Slam time...Show me time...Time to Stand Up and make some history...or suffer the slings and arrows accordingly.
