Safina tied for 10th all-time for weeks at #1

According to this week's WTA Notes and Netcords newsletter, the two weeks during the US Open will be Safina's 20th and 21st as world #1. This ties her with Tracy Austin at #10 on the list of weeks spent at #1.

A few questions:

Mauresmo is at #9, with 39 weeks. (1) Will Safina be able to overtake Mauresmo?

Amazingly, there are seven active former #1s. Serena's chances to regain #1 are excellent, while Mauresmo's are almost zero. (2) What are the chances that Clijsters, Jelena, Maria, Ana or Venus will reach #1 again?

Safina is the latest player to reach #1 and join the list. (3) Who will be the next player added to the list?

And lastly, (4) How the dang can I insert tabs into text?

It's embarrassing how she keeps her ranking.

Congratulations to her She earned it and it's no surprise with Serena only giving a shit at the Slams. She puts the effort in all year round. So what if she's had some poor losses recently? Serena has had some pretty bad losses too.

Well, this is how the system works. She just played all she could throughout the past 52 weeks and earned it. So cut the crap that she doesn't deserve to be #1 or whatsoever.

I hope she can keep that #1 ranking or extend it in the future in order to piss off the haters.

how did Goolagong sneak into only 2 weeks at no.1, I always thought that was Venus' pride and joy, the least no. of weeks spent at no. 1

Rena- a tennis great! 22 at striking distance.

Retrospective World No. 1 rating

Many tennis writers and publications ranked Goolagong as World No. 1 for 1971, including Björn Hellberg of Tidningen Tennis, Joseph Macauley of World Tennis magazine, Lance Tingay of the Daily Telegraph, L'Equipe, and Rex Bellamy of The Times. Bud Collins of the Boston Globe and Rino Tomassi ranked Goolagong second, after Billie Jean King.

Although she played at her highest level in the early-to-mid 1970s, the WTA computer, which began in 1973, did not list her as ever holding the World No. 1 ranking until 2007. In December 2007, the WTA realized that the rankings for 1976 were miscalculated. When the records were corrected, the WTA announced that Goolagong had briefly supplanted Chris Evert as World No. 1 following Goolagong's victory at the 1976 Virginia Slims of Los Angeles tournament. Goolagong held the top ranking from 26 April 1976, through 9 May 1976, after which Evert reassumed that ranking

Good for her but still, I agree until she wins that slam it's...

Not her fault of course. But god...seems so weird.

Btw, how on earth did Ana hold the no.1 spot longer than Venus?
