Clay isn't really Katie's thing but good for her not avoiding it. In the long run it will make her a better player. I saw her match against Iveta at Wimbledon and she has talent, hopefully she will have some success in North America this summer.
As for Monica, well I'm not going to pretend Katie on clay was the toughest opponent she could face, but the way things have been going for Monica in singles the last few months any win is a good win. On a positive note with Monica, I am really pleased that Monica hasn't let her slump in singles affect her doubles game, far from it. Last week Monica won her 1st WTA level doubles title and she is now ranked in the top 30 in doubles for the 1st time. Monica is developing into being as outstanding doubles player and that is good to see. As for singles, I am not going to read too much into this win and make any assumptions as to when Monica's ranking will start moving back towards the top 50 but Monica is clearly very committed to the game and I haven't lost faith. If Monica doesn't get back to the top 50 this year she will do it next year.
