Prague R1: Franny def. Shahar 7-5 6-3

Came back from 5-1 (or was it 4-1...???) down in the first set. Good match to win as Shahar has a 2-0 record over Franny and appears to be getting back to form. Go FRANYY! #1 seed yahaaaaaaaaa

Re: Prague R1: Franny def. Shahar 7-5 6-3

well done Fran, first win over an in-form Peer ! she was down 1-5 in the first set and I really thought she was going to lose easily, as in the other matches against Peer, but she fought back, this will help her confidence, I hope

Shahar choke again 3 days after she did the same against Bondarenko in Budapest, she was leading 5-1 30-0 and just blown exactly like she did against Alona. Her tennis is better than 2008 but after these defeats, she might slump again....

Re: Prague R1: Franny def. Shahar 7-5 6-3

Lightning striking twice. Last week Shahar Peer led Alona Bondarenko 5-1. She ended up losing 7-5 6-1. This week Peer led Francesca Schiavone 5-1. She ended up losing 7-5 6-3.

One such result can be considered an unfortunate accident but two times in a row and its starts to look rather concerning.

That said, well done Francesca another great fight. Francesca is not a player who gives up. Respect to her.

I think Shahar did have SPs. Another choke at 5*-1
She better retires.

Re: Prague R1: Franny def. Shahar 7-5 6-3

Good win by Schiavone. Got a tough 1R match in Bastad, and even though she's the top seed here, got a tough 1R match again. Not surprised that she won (even though she only played well intermittently against Pennetta up in Sweden), but I expected the score to be tighter - which it might have been had Peer closed out the 1st set, come to think of it.
