Is women's tennis still "boring?"

After Wimbledon and that great semifinal? Do we still not have what we can consider a dominant player?

Why is having one dominant player exciting

Like don't you want upsets and variety in your winners, I do and I am happy we don't have a Federer type in women's tennis.

Re: Is women's tennis still "boring?"

So one great match for the first time in forever is supposed to make it not boring anymore? I'm still looking for the first good women's final since Wimbledon 2006. USO 2008 wasn't too bad but we've had a serious lull in slams AND outside slams. Last year's slams+YEC were pretty atrocious.

I always wanted to be somebody. If I made it, it's half because I was game enough to take a lot of punishment along the way and half because there were a lot of people who cared enough to help me.

The WTA has always been about highs and lows. Guess what period we're going through right now?

Benji Schwimmer is gay. Do the sister wives know?!

Re: Is women's tennis still "boring?"

I don't get this "boring" thing. I find the game has evolved constantly tougher in the last decade, lopsided matches are nothing new and there are several active players who proved being able to win majors.
I can concede, though, that the tour lacks girls with charisma at the top. Maybe that's why the tour is perceived as boring.

The majority of players are boring to say the least only a few stand out,no compelling rivalries plus the grunting is just annoying.

I agree, but Henin def. Sharapova 07 YEC was talked up a lot. So was Serena's win over Henin in Miami in the 07 final. Henin's retirement and Sharapova's injury really took the air out of any supposed rivalry in women's tennis.

With quotes like Williamsova and the #1 War of Words, no.

Tour will be better next year with Hingis and Clijsters back.

Re: Is women's tennis still "boring?"

Things have definitely been incredibly boring this year in terms of GS finals, but we have had some interesting stuff happen elsewhere. Hopefully some of the young players (Azerenka? Wozniacki? Cibulkova? Lisicki? Pavlyuchenkova? Cirstea?) will start breaking through into the Finals and that will make things a lot more interesting. Or if Sharapova or Ivanovic or Jankovic start contending for major titles again that will also make things more interesting.

Re: Is women's tennis still "boring?"

I think it's very interesting. There are a lot of suspensful questions out there.

Can Maria come back?

Is it too late for Serena to win enough slams to be an ATG?

How will Clijsters play when she comes back?

Is Hingis REALLY done, or will she too come back?

Will Venus ever win a slam outside Wimby?

Is J.J. a one run wonder?

Can Ana pull her game back together and fulfill her potential?

I mean the list of intriguing questions goes on and on. ANYONE who can't be excited by that simply isn't interested in the women's game of today and is naught but an old sour puss pining away for wood rackets and Evert and Nav' and yester-year.
