Etiquette Lessons from the Men

Watching Roddick's comportment and on-court interview after the final strikes me as how many top female players, including the current Wimby winner, can stand to take lessons from the men on how to lose. The catty/petty refusal to give the winner credit seems to be pretty much absent on the men's side. Don't know why this unattractive behavior appears to be more prevalent among tennis female players, of this generation anyway, than in other sports.

I bet your biggest problem with the current female Wimby winner is that she won.

Federer has 15 slams, has been #1 for years and a 19-2 head to head against Roddick. What exactly was Roddick going to say?? "I beat myself today?"

*PRICELESS*

Never chase love, affection or attention. If it isn't given to you freely by another person, then it isn't worth having.

Re: Etiquette Lessons from the Men

Exactly what I was about to say. How conceited would you look if you just lost to the best player of this era 16-14 in the fifth and you said you played like crap?

Roddick was not that talkative in the press conference and while i totally understand his disappointment, his reaction to the journalists wasn't that stellar.

Hmm, so unsportmanship = winning? Not a very credible theory, as disproved by the current male Wimby winner. But, hey, you might have something there if we bring the current female Wimby winner into your equation. LOL.

Well when all you do is lose (like Roddick since 2003) I guess you have no choice but to be good at it. Serena doesn't need to pick those habits.

or you could look at venus, and compliment her behaviour regarding defeat; rather, you focus on the negatives..kinda typical for many posters
