How Good?

Has this period been as good as Henin's recent period of dominance (07'/08).
Justine- (2 slams, 1 semi, 1/4)Heaven knows how many titles on the wta tour including YEC, and practically the entire period at no.1 vs Serena- 3 slams, 1/4 and a 12 or so week (?) stint at no.1?

I really don't know, I mean Henin was SOOOOO fabulous during that period of 4 slams, whereas Serena HASN'T been EXCEPTfor the slams. Then again, everyone remembers the slams. Not much else.

I think with her serve and her athleticism, her power, her court mobility, I just think when she’s on, she’s the greatest player we’ve ever seen, ever. Now, whether her record is the greatest remains to be seen because she hasn’t retired yet. But I think she is really the greatest player. I have seen Martina and Steffi at their best. There are little chinks in those players’ armor, but it was a different era, where you didn’t need to be the perfect player.

Re: How Good?

Can we say 4 1st rd losses?

Henin's period of in 07 was fire. She was beating everybody and winning tournaments left and right.
Serena's past 10 months doesn't compare.

She was injured in some of her losses though. But definitely, I wasn't denying she has been roppy outside the slams

I think the thing is, even though HENIN was on fire, she STILL didn't manage to hold 3 of the 4 slams. Hence we have a discussion

But she was consistent in and out of the slams which is why she was SOLIDLY the #1 player and Serena is still #2 now despite her slam record.

Precisely the point I made in my opening post. Though, Serena has held the no.1 spot during her 3/4 slam period!

Henin's #1 status was far above Serena's #1 status (2nd time around). How long did Serena hold it for? How many points above the #2 player was she?
Answer those questions before equating Henin's #1 with Serena's

Obviously not making it clear enough to you, that I am AGREEING with ya! In terms of consistency Serena's period is nothing on Justine's, but those 3 slams are worth a heck of a lot!

Re: How Good?

Yeah I agree....mostly it just the slams people remember...and I'm sure Justine's still kicking herself for taking her eye off the ball against Marion Bartoli....

Re: How Good?

Dunlop1 is so irrelevant! Why are we feeding this troll by mentioning Henin in threads?

Re: How Good?

Henin got smacked around by BARTOLI, who went on to get straight setted by Venus.
