When WTA became Williams tennis Association

The Williams domination has been a driving force in women's tennis and surprisingly has been , for a long time now. And with the form and quality of tennis increasing with every slam passing, it seems the Williams sisters are here to stay.

Re: When WTA became Williams tennis Association

The WSTA 'Williams Sisters Tennis Association' is going to be very lonely without other opponents.

Concerned but not consumed.

Re: When WTA became Williams tennis Association

The Williams sisters are clearly the best two players of their generation and have taken up permanent residence on the lawns of tennis.

BUT, there is lots of talent in the WTA and lots of really good players. I am happy to see some of the younger players out there competing and believing in their game and chances. When Serena and Venus were really dominant, a lot of players just folded. Now players are sticking around and believing in the chances until the end. Think Carla Suarez-Navarro.

At this stage in their career, Venus and Serena are obviously focused more on adding to their slam tally. And certainly when they show up to play, it is going to be tough for everyone else. I am glad to see them still performing at the highest level. Love it!

Re: When WTA became Williams tennis Association

Although i doubt whether it's WTA or Grand Slam tennis, as both women focus only on Grand Slams as opposed to the other major events in the calendar....! Thats not entitled for WTA being Williams Tennis Assoc...

Re: When WTA became Williams tennis Association

I doubt that WTA = Williams Tennis Association as the fact that the WS only seems to be "present" at Grand Slams and Grand Slams aren't hardly WTA events....

Serena's tennis association.

Venus outside Wimbledon is irrelevant 90% of the time.

This is an insulting, and ignorant thread that never should have been posted. It is comments like these that turn some against the Sisters and Americans. The Williams sisters couldn't care less about the WTA and it's tournaments.

Re: When WTA became Williams tennis Association

If Kournikova doesn't have a phobia against winning, Hingis doesn't have chronic injuries, Dementeiva doesn't have my serve, and Henin somehow lack the 'star thing', we'd have already lost tack of term 'Williams Tennis Association'. They lasted. How long ago was the Sports Illustrated 'Party Crasher' cover? The tour was Graf-Seles-ASV ad the new kid Hingis. Nowenus is the oldest player in the top ten.

Re: When WTA became Williams tennis Association

I highly doubt it is 'their' tour. In fact I blame them for the decline in audiences at smaller events. When you have players like Venus & Serena headlining an event you expect to see good tennis on their behalf, but when they go out and put in a half arsed attempt and bore the audience to death by spewing errors, why would you waste your time going to those events?

Paszek & Chakvetadze & Vaidisova & Sharapova & Pavlyuchenkova & Vekic.

Re: When WTA became Williams tennis Association

When both of the Williams sisters retire, I will not miss either one of them. I have never enojoyed one WTA final when the Williams sisters played each other. The WTA is pretty much dead right now, except for the 4 majors. I say when the Williams sister leave the tour will get more interesting bringing more fans. Just stay healthy Sabine and the fans will love you, since you have a lot of talent.
