Miriam Oremans retired

It's official. On her 30th birthday Miriam announced her retirement. She will stop immediately.

I can't say anymore at the moment because I feel so depressed and sad

It's a shame to see a veteran serve/volleyer go. But perhaps she'll pass her skills on to a new generation. Here's hoping she stays involved with the Fed Cup team.

It's too bad she didn't keep going, to add to her slams played totals. All the best in the future!

(But who will Kristie play with?)

ItŽs sad to see her go - she was the opponent Anke Huber feared the most in her playing times.

She was fun to watch on grass and sheŽll really be missed. Next to Brenda Schultz she gave the tennis of the Netherlands something to cheer for regarding the womenŽs game. Now there is not much left apart from some youngsters who need their time ...

Miriam, youŽll be missed on the courts of the world. All the best for you

thanks a lot for the news Frau Antje, sadly I was anticipating a post from you soon to announce this

Miriam is a very nice individual, and unfortunately one of the few serve volleyers that's been around the last few years. Sad to see her go, but I hope she stays involved in the tennis world.

Take care Miriam

I feel very sorry for you Frau Antje

I've seen her play just once on TV so I didn't really have an opinion about her but I was really supporting her at Wimbledon sad to see her retire this year anyway. Good luck to her in whatever she decides to do

she has started a business together with her boyfriend some month ago. They provide tennisclinics for companies and clubs. So Miriam will stay involved in tennis.
And Miriam promised me to play some club competition next year ...
