Will Jelena Jankovic ever win a slam?
..and if yes, is she the poster girl for this 'weak' era in womens tennis?
Assuming Dinara does win one eventually, leaving Jankovic the only slamless #1 in history. She'll likely go down as the weakest #1 ever, and looks to be on the decline, and a fast one at that. I know when Henin left, a huge chunk of ranking points were missing, but the history books won't remember that.
So, is she the ultimate proof of this generation in womens tennis being weak?
And if she is, does it lessen the credentials of Williamsx2, Sharapova and Henin to be considered among the best ever? Seeing as though a one-time slam finalist like Jankovic was allowed to become #1 during their playing days, not the fact that it happened, but just that for a player of Jankovic's calibre to reach #1 = weak era.
