Steggy RIP

I know that a lot of you post at various tennis sites, and any of you who have posted at Pete Bodo's Tennis World site (whose posters are known as members of "the Tribe") over the last 4 or so years would know of an uber fan named Steggy.

Amy. She was a moderator, a funny lady, a tough lady, a lady who knew her tennis better than most anyone. She died at age 34 a few days ago. It's touched me deeply and painfully.

I put this in the general thread because of how great a fan Steggy was, and I hope to reach the greatest number of you who may have been aware of her. She and I had our run ins, but I always respected her.

RIP to a great fan. Who will be remembered. If you ever have a few minutes, look in the archives at the tennis.com site and read Steggy's posts at Pete Bodo's blog. You'll laugh a lot, and probably learn a thing or two also.

Steggy's Call
Posted 06/19/2009 @ 11 :56 AM

Steggy The TennisWorld community was stunned and distressed by news posted this morning from Bill Bradford, steggy's husband:

Everyone, you may or may not know Amy (stegoradio, etc) who worked on this blog for a while. I just wanted to let y'all know that she passed away unexpectedly this past Tuesday night at the age of 34.
Can someone please make sure that Pete knows?

Viewing and graveside funeral service are going to be tuesday night/wednesday morning in Chattanooga, TN (where she grew up).

Her obituary notice reads:

Amy Elizabeth Haskew, age 34, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Amy was a 1987 graduate of Hixson High School. Amy was a kind and generous lady, who loved animals as much as life itself. There was never a dog or cat that was without a home, that she didn’t take in. Amy had many friends in all walks of life, and never met a stranger. Amy was truly a Christian lady with a “Heart of Gold.”

Amy was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia B. Haskew.

Surviving spouse, Bill Bradford of Houston, Texas, Dad and stepmother, Gary and Rita Haskew, Chattanooga; Mother in Law, Donna Bradford, Oklahoma; Sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer (Don) Demba of Atlanta, Georgia; Uncles Jerre Haskew (Barbara), Greg Haskew (Nikki) of Chattanooga; Aunt Sara Bukema (Calvin) of Baltimore, Maryland; also several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 10 A.M. at Chattanooga Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Davenport officiating. The family and friends will depart the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday in a procession to Chattanooga Memorial Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Chris Johnson, Greg Johnson, Foster Yates, Russell Bean, Phil Alsbrook and Boomer Brown. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the McKamey Animal Care & Adoption Center, 4500 North Access Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37415. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.mem.com Arrangements are by the Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tennessee 37343.

Pete has been contacted, and he'll have more to say about steggy soon. This post is for members of the Tribe, a community fostered lovingly by steggy during her time as moderator and Pete's wingman, to remember her.
