Question Will Sisters Survive "GS/09 Defending Champions Curse" and "QuarterRena Syndrome"?

GS/09 Defending Champions Curse

So far this season is worst nightmare for all Grand Slam defending champions, especially in terms of health on tournaments where they defending major title... so far of 5 last seasons GS Defending champions only one reach Quarterfinal this season, but even he must to retire in that round so R16 is last match which 2008 defending GS champions completed this season when defend theirs major titles!

Australian Open 2008 ATP Champion Novak Djokovic retire in QF round of 2009 Australian Open. [several health problems]
Australian Open 2008 WTA Champion Maria Sharapova withdraws from 2009 Australian Open. [shoulder injury]
Roland Garros 2008 ATP Champion Rafael Nadal lose French Open 2009 R16 match. [has knee problems]
Roland Garros 2008 WTA Champion Ana Ivanovic lose French Open 2009 R16 match. [has knee problems]
Wimbledon 2008 ATP Champion Rafael Nadal withdraws from 2009 Wimbledon 2009. [knee injury]
Wimbledon 2008 WTA Champion Venus Ebony Starr Williams...

Venus Williams is probably WTA Grasscourt GOAT and traditionally only her problems with health (or with sister) is able to prevent her winning Wimbledon title. For example since 2004 she lose just two single matches in London and both time upset is happen against some Balkan-Girl during week-1 (Sprem/04 and Jankovic/06) just because problems with injury. I notice in her 1/8 of 2009 draw some Balkan Girls (Jelena Dokic for example)

Sorry if I accidentally scared with this thread some Venus fans (which mostly right now already thinking just about "upcoming" All-Williams Wim/09 final), but when Nadal today decide to withdraw this officially becoming an 2009 defending champions curse and we all know how big history with injuries Venus has in past . So talking honestly I'm now very concerned about potential fatal Round of 16 Venus match

Are You worry too???

EDIT: QuarterRena Syndrome

So her lowest point traditionally is start of 2nd week... Quarterfinal round, from where coming 10 of her 19 XXI century GS loses, more than in all other rounds together (1,2,3,4,SF,F)! Even if we add her GS results before 2001 it's simple amazing how she looks vulnerable at Quarterfinals and how strong in all other rounds:
Code:
Round1: 38-0 100.0%
Round2: 37-1 97.4%
Round3: 30-7 81.1%
Round4: 26-4 86.7%
QF: 15-11 57.7%
SF: 13-2 86.7%
Finals: 10-3 76.9%
So no doubt that for Serena worst draw option is to have hard opponent in QF Round. She is 2nd Seed, so if we look all non-TOP4 Wimbledon 2009 players most dangerous ATM seems Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka (according to experts and bookmakers)... and guess what??? Serena will face in QF round winner of Sharapova/Azarenka R16 match

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

Are you hoping Venus gets injured? It's really sad if this is the only way you can see Ivanovic winning.

Last season we have very strange WTA fatal #1 curse (see what happen with Henin, Sharapova, Ivanovic and Serena since first week in 2008 when they are on TOP spot.

This thread is about 2009 Tennis curse with defending champions disasters (including ATP part) where nobody so far not finish QF round match... so will Venus be first who will finally broke that curse?

Also talking about WTA Grand Slam curses i must to remind all of You that after epic Wimbledon 2005 final we have in WTA "One-Seeded Final" Curse - 15 WTA GS finals in the row with straight sets wins !

BTW this thread is about Venus and potential danger for her to continue this awful 2009 GS curse losing too early... not about any other player (or at least not before August when Serena Williams and Roger Federer will try to escape this fatal curse during US Open) .

Not only Ivanovic - probably no women in the world who can do that (except maybe Serena)... but same thing we must to say for example about Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros - and look what happen... it's Curse

Did You forget what happen with all WTA#1 last season (Justine, Maria, Ana, Serena) till Jelena Jankovic in late september finally start to shows some results.

The only thing that will be injuried is Ana's ego when Venus will destroys her. And that's only if the Serbian is able to survive the first 3 rounds.

Venus will destroy Ana if Ana can even make it to that round.

I am getting a bit worried myself. There is so much pressure on her, going for her sixth and third consecutive. I was this nervous last year when Roger was going for it and look what happened. I just hope she does lose in the first week.

OMG I love how you're doing it again...like that RG stuff last year about 'big forehands', 'good showing in Berlin and tanking in Rome' Putting Dokic in there was just a stroke of genius. I don't think Ana will get past Venus if Ana even manages to get there though.

Waiting for Ana Ivanovic to just retire already .
