Well, I guess I have to admit it...

Pete really shut me up. When he said earlier in the year that he was going to win another Grand Slam I could only laugh, I said, yeah, whatever.

Now he not only won the US Open, he beat Andre Agassi that was playing incredibly well, and Sampras, oh boy, by moments I could see the old Sampras there, he really is a living manual on how to serve and volley.

And even though he war running out of gas in the fourth set, he found the energy to pull out some amazing shots and win the match, something that only champions do.

50 years from now when people look at Pete's 2000 and 2001, all they are going to see is "US Open Finalist", and they won't imagine that anyone had ever thought he was done.

You have to answer for Santino, Carlo.

Pete was amazing and I felt the clock turn back those first 2 sets. He simply blew Andre off the court just like he did in 1990. I was very glad Andre was able to come back in the third and I felt Pete would tire out a bit. I started out rooting for both but after a while I actually reverted back to my old feelings of wanting Andre to win, even though Pete has had such poor results the past two years (the US nonwithstanding).

Kudos to Pete and Andre for a great final rich with beautiful shotmaking, oodles of drama and nostalgia. It was damn fun!

I had a feeling pete would finally pull it out this year - that is once he got into the semis

Before then I had figured he'd lose to Tommy haas.

my bad
