Re: Qualifying Americans :(
Don't worry, I'm a firm believer that what we have coming, assuming proper development and no injuries, will be good. Melanie Oudin and Alexa Glatch are both breaking through to the top 100. Christina McHale and Sloane Stephens are two solid prospects at age 16. The lesser known 16-year-old Lauren Davis is also at the top of her age group, and just recently won a G3 junior tournament as a qualifier, in what was only her third ITF tournament. Madison Keys, of course, has already proved to have big potential and she's just 14. Coco Vandeweghe, age 18, won the junior US Open. She started tennis late and while she has done little so far on the pro circuit, it wouldn't surprise me if she was a late bloomer. Junior player Sachia Vickery is also highly touted by many. I think that in 3-4 years, American tennis will be looking much better.
