US Open is Anti-Semitic

The US Open, USTA, and tournament directors are Anti-Semitic for making Pete Sampras play a morning, 12 o'clock start match.

Sampras, a Greek Jew, should have at least gotten to play the later match so then, if he wanted to, he could attend services for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah.

My family was outraged at this, as well as many other tennis fans in synogague today. Even our rabbi mentioned it during his sermon

yes, i agree. i think it was a little inconsiderate for them to play on rosh hashanah anyway, but even still, there making pete play twice (yes, twice!) on rosh hashanah! it still does go on tomorrow in case you didn't know. i dont think they're anti-semitic for this, i mean it is the same time every year, but come on - you think that might do something about it.

The question is, did he want to?

Pete knew all this coming in the Open, if he feels that his religion is that important to him, then he should just not play.

Wha? Sorry Scotti, i dont get what the fuss is about, thats the way Super-Saturday always goes, two men's semis, the exhibithion, & the women's final. They usualy put the more interesting matches later & Andre/Lleyton's was more interesting.

Sampras is Greek Orthodox, but he doesn't adhere to his faith (excuse the pun) religiously. He says so in a 2000 interview with Tennis Magazine.

OMG

What next???

Sampras has NEVER made any comment about his religious beliefs during his entire career - if her really had a problem with it and I DOUBT he did, he is Pete Sampras - he could have said something!

What a silly thing to complain about - what's next huh?

Michael Chang is VERY religious yet he never had a problem playing Grand Slam finals on a Sunday......the only athlete who I know has sacrificed because of religious beliefs is Jonothan Edwards, the british triple jumper.

Larry Scott is a moron.

I thought you were going to give it to them for putting them women's semis on after the doubles matches - which meant that Jewish fans who wanted to be home before sundown would probably have to miss the end of the second semi.

Reason is poor propaganda when opposed by the yammering, unceasing lies of shrewd and evil and self-serving men.

So what. They played the Miami final on EASTER!!!!! The most celebrated holiday in the world. Tennis does not care about Religion, and I am sure that Pete isn't religious anyways. (Though I did not know that he was jewish) Gosh people today are given an inch and they take a mile. HOW IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD DID YOU COME UP WITH RACISM FOR THAT?????
