The quest to silence Michelle Larcher De Brito

Q. Sorry to mention the shouts again. In the press conference, Michelle said that you were the first player toever complain about her shouts. And she said maybe that was a tactic on your part. What would you like to answer?

ARAVANE REZAI: Well, of course, maybe that's her weapon. That's the way she reacts. That's the way she plays. However, I reacted that way, because it was bothering me. Maybe in the next few matches that she plays, the other players are going to complain, as well. So maybe I just started it, and then her next opponents will continue complaining.

---

Aravane has stepped up and is saying, no more. Do you think other players will support her quest to silence Michelle?

Re: The quest to silence Michelle Larcher De Brito

Aravane was all class in the post-match interview and she still isn't too harsh on MLDB imo.She clearly is implying that it's part of a strategy tho (and she's right).Hope some others will ask for this to stop as well.

PS : lol at the first sentence. So Michelle said that Aravane's complaint was "tactical" ? Can the girl be even more retarded

Re: The quest to silence Michelle Larcher De Brito

All of this is only going on because Michelle is extremely young and already stepping it up in the pro game. The veterans just don't like someone new

Sharapova had to go through the exact same thing. But now she's a veteran, and people had to accept the fact that she's here to stay, and won't shut up just for them.

It's only the players who are threatening that get treated like this. Schiavone never gets called out, and her grunt may be even worse because she does it WAYYY after she hits the ball. You know why she doesn't get in trouble? Because she's not a threat

Re: The quest to silence Michelle Larcher De Brito

This is one of those dodgy "where do you draw the line?" discussions, and everyone will have a different view of where that line is. The sport needs to take a longer term view, start with the kids, and tell coaches that this sort of screaming is not acceptable. It may be too late to do anything about existing players, but they will eventually fade away.

Quite honestly, she would have more supporters if she could tone it down.

Re: The quest to silence Michelle Larcher De Brito

There are such things as decibel-meters. Pick a number, tell the players if they yell louder than that, they'll lose a point, and have done with it.
