Someone will...just give it time. It may be Venus or not. It may be a future top player. That is one record I see going buybye.

It will not be broken nor will Rusedki's 149 mph record. They are using slower balls on hardcourt and faster balls on clay.

Beat'em down Ms Williams, beat'em down!
SERENA PRINCESS OF POWER

Victoria Duval - coming to a slam near you
Françoise Abanda definitely a future #1 --- Taylor Townsend devastation on the march
Venus and Serena ferocious grannies --- Kimiko Date Krumm great granny still doing her thing.

Venus has been close, she hit 125 MPH in many occasions...

Venus ~ Serena ~ Nadal

That means under the old conditions Venus would have already broken the record. The slower balls are about 10% slower as I recall.

So maybe Martina's serve really hasn't gotten that much worse and that it might just be slower because of heavier balls?

Of course that also implies that the women have gotten A LOT stronger than just a few years ago, because lots of women serve over 110 mph nowadays.

It is my understanding that the balls are not heavier. But rather just have a higher aerodynamic drag coefficient. Dang did I say that?
