Sick of Monica being Quarterfinal Queen

Time to step it up, Monica!

You said you wanted to win more slams, time to believe it!

Get on the trackmill, work out with Lindsay (who looks incredible), lose those 20 pounds.

Work on your serve and holding it!

If you need surgery on the foot, don't delay! Get it done, then get in the gym!

We your fans, believe in you but want more than quarterfinal results!

You're not to old. Just look at Martina! Now and when she was #1 at 30!

This US Open was just a rung on the ladder upwards!

Good luck in 2003.

I take back the fool comment I made in the scoring thread. I just didn't like how it sounded when you wrote the black didn't hide her fat.

Jarret,

I accept.

I tend to be sorta "JenCappy" in my comments. (Yikes)

agree with most of things you say but if monica could just learn to how to volley half decently she would have much greater chance of doing some real damge against the big guns....she will never run as fast as the williams but she woudn't need to if she could finsih points off at the net quickly....However she's been a pro for well over a deacade and if she hasn't done it yet what chance is there of her doing it now...probably the same as me winnin the lottery..

Villa,

Volleying isn't Monica's game. Plus, the Williams' don't give you many short balls to work with. You find yourself getting pushed back past the baseline.

Playa, bite me. Why even come in here? I mean really - just to spread hate? If you're fit enough to start a match - you're fit enough to lose. Face it, she got beat. Plain and simple.

She has nothing to be ashamed of coz she had a better year at the Grand Slams than loads of other players. Monica you're a great champion!

Quarterfinals at a slam ain't at all bad especially in the context of today's tennis game. I won't attempt to dissect her game but looking at her tonight against Venus makes me think she is nearly outclassed. She doesn't have enough mobility, and with both hands on the rackets she's even more limited.

I'd bet she's happy she's still such a great athlete that she's in the Top 10 and can reach the quarters regularly.

that was Serena in 2000-2001, now look at what she has done.

Martina and Monica should hang out this winter

Bright Red:

Nope. Read her interview transcript on USOpen.org.

I've never read Monica being so testy about losing before. Almost sounded like JCap (except JCap would've said nothing good about the Williams).

Maybe she'll use this fire to improve her game

TF,

I should read the interview. Well, hopefully she's dissapointed with this loss. She's capable of more.

how can she? SINCE Monica does not have EITHER the strenght of a game or fitness to step up against the hard hitters.
Her groundies are not lethal anymore, they can do damage but there is a big gap in the movement, and service department that makes players like Venus, Serena, easily beat Seles. Even Davenport hits so hard to the lines either while serving and returning which hurts Monica´s chances to dictate. Tennis has become so fast these days i don´t think Monica can get to that shape, at least myself have been waiting to see that since the 1998 year and she has not. Maybe there can be times where she can be hitting the ball really well and playing well, but this sisters are so tough they hit well and move incredibly well!
