The rise of Amelie Mauresmo... she is now #7 in the world.

Amelie great run at the US OPEN, beating Kim Clijsters and Jennifer Capriati back to back has propelled her to number 7 in the world!

Currently

4) Dokic 3310
5) Seles 3309
6) Justine 3000
7) Amelie 2908
8) Kim 2730
9) Lindsay 2680
10) Martina 2514

If Amelie wins the semis by some miracle then she will have 3222 pts going into the finals

Btw Amelie has 2779 points in the race to the Sanex Championships which puts her in FOURTH PLACE behind CAPRIATI and in front of SELES! If Seles can win tonight she will be ahead of Mauresmo.

Btw I just realized that the 3222 projection for the point total is based on her beating Venus. Sorry to Monica fans but I automatically assumed that Venus would win. I should not have done that. Hopefully Monica can prove me wrong!!

No surprise, she's been higher before but thx.

BTW, do you know how far Daniela is from entering the top ten?

Hey, with Capriati losing points for not making the semis, and for Seles doing one better than she did last year, is it possible for Seles to get to #3?

BARBIE
is coming for your towel, too.

Not right away. Also Seles has quite a few points to defend in the fall. Jennifer and Monica can both pick up points at the year-end Championships.

Next year if Jenn does not defend Oz then Monica could have chance to catch up. Of course Monica has to defend semifinal points.

Yes, I would have liked Kim to win, but Amelie is a good player. Good luck to her for the rest of the tournament
