Why are there no top level chair umpires from Russia?

Each top tennis country has a presentation except for Russia. This is kind of strange considering that Russians now play at a top level. Does anyone have any idea? Wonder also how Russian players feel about it if they care at all...

On a side note, why are there 2 top chair umpires in Portugal?

I don't why, but we always use to have great referees in any sport. It may be a genetic thing or something like that!

I'm wondering what their accents would be like, especially during Roland Garros.

I think you do draw a certain number of officials from the ranks of frustrated players. As tennis' popularity is still growing in Russia (and many other countries) I expect we'll see more Russian officials in the future.

What's with this sudden interest in umpires? Looking for a job?

Re: Why are there no top level chair umpires from Russia?

My inference:
There's so many Russian players, so it's hard to be an umpire when you might favor a Russian or for example rob Venus or Serena of a win at Wimbledon b/c you want to see a Russian win the whole thing

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari
I'm obsessed with the Greek players. Deal with it.
