I think Chris Myers is a fine studio host for the U.S. Open on the USA Cable Network! While he's not an expert on tennis, he does a quality job and he seems to ask the right questions. On a scale of 1- 10, I'd give him an 8! How about you?

He does an alright job, I just wish the research department would get some of their facts straight when they give them to him. They make him sound like an idiot when he makes really bad mistakes that aren't his fault.

I also wish USA Network had a better timming for his reports, not when live matches are to be showed

The only reason they do those reports are because of the corporate sponsors, if there was no sponsor for the report, you would get maybe 2 or 3 during the whole day of coverage, but since Cingular paid to sponsor the report, you see it about 7-10 time a day.

I think Cingular, AOL, Fuji and others should realize that annoying the viewers isn't a very good advertising

In a word, no. (Sorry) I think there are great number of people who could do a far better job. He comes off pretty stiff, and not terribly personable to me. But hey, we all have opinions and...

As for the timing of the interviews...I was screaming at the T.V. when they aired James' interview in the middle of the Monica/Martina. (Even tho I quite like James and thought he spoke very well).
But could they air it between matches? Of course not. We had only had women's tennis so far -- had to make sure the men weren't being forgotten!

I would much prefer a tennis expert at the desk......such as Pam Shriver, or even Chrissy Evert.

Chris Myers focuses primarily on the men and then says, "Oh yeah, the women played a few matches today as well."

I give him a 1. As you can tell, I don't like him at all.

Sorry I don't have cable so I'm clueless about Chris Myers. Just came in to say that I dislike this practice by the American networks that cover tennis to have these "anchormen" types overseeing the coverage. Bill McATee, Jim Lampley, Jon Frankel, Dan Hicks. They're all capable but their area of expertise is in other sports but USA, NBC and CBS insist on a Peter Jennings-esque type of moderator. They don't enhance the proceedings so why bother.

Oh EC! But you made a good point about the needless Blake interview when Seles was whipping Hingis! That wasn't necessary.

He is okay. His voice is very disturbing...like he is holding in flatulence or his on-air persona is a character and he is always fighting to remain in character. But, yes he does ask some good questions (Monica's retirement etc etc).

I already posted this comment on another thread not knowing there was one about this guy already. No, I dont like Chris at all. And i wish he'd stop putting a T in Wimbledon. If he says WIMBLETON one more time i'm gonna scream. I mean come on dude, know the sport you are covering. It may seem like a small error, but its not when you say it time and time again. When he interviewed Serena last night and said something about WimbleTon and she replied, she said Wimbledon herself and with a big emphasis on the D! I sorta laughed to myself wondering if she did that on purpose.

Mark, funny post again!
